Every LL should be switching to LED lights. Habitat has them by the dozens, brand new. Bulbs are a buck each. Fancy dawn/dark bulbs with a built in sensor are a buck fitty. Fixtures, including can lights, and including the bulbs, are two to four bucks.

I just remodeled a house and replaced 11 fixtures plus every remaining light bulb for under a hundred bucks.

They have 100 watt equivalent bulbs that use only 27 watts.

Stock up quick. I already have.

Good deal! I was just there yesterday getting trim. Should have taken a minute to look at lighting. --70.92.xxx.xxx

Gevans, did they tell you that they stocked all the ReStores nationally? Maybe just your store? --24.20.xxx.xxx

I don't know about nationally, but definitely more than just our local store. --173.233.xxx.xxx

My 100 watt type LED bulbs use only 17 watts, not 28 watts. You are buying the wrong type older style. --47.156.xx.xx

BUT, that’s probably why ReStore has them, Robert.

I agree that more energy efficient, longer lasting ones are now available. BUT, if you have tenants that unscrew bulbs and sell them (stupid house) cheap is the way to go, until all the fixtures are changed to sealed in fixture, or, better tenants come along. ( I no longer have those tenants that earned moniker ‘stupid house.’ ) --70.92.xxx.xxx

Menard’s here in town was running a sale. 4 packs for $4.99 with a mail in rebate of $4.99, no limit. Want to know who got really odd looks when he purchased $150 worth of bulbs......yup this guy lol. --45.18.xxx.xxx

Y'all are lucky to have a decent ReStore. Ours is nothing but a thrift store for crap no one wants anymore & is stocked locally.

I did the Menards thing with door hinges a few months ago. Same gig.

No bulbs here at my local ReStore.

BTW, Julie, if it makes you feel any better the ReStores around here aren't much better. Rarely find anything worth buying... --24.20.xxx.xxx

ReStores can be funny. The largest one in Wauwatosa has everything, the good, the bad, the ugly. I picked up parts for doorjambs on Friday, and was drooling over a beautiful set of cherry cabinets (that I have absolutely no use for, but a girl can look.) Lots of other good cabinet sets too.

But, many of the other ReStores seem to cater to the ‘RePurpose’ crafty crowd, rather than the serious property rehabber. So, those stores, meh...

Otis, I’m going to have to pop into Menard’s tomorrow, see if my store has those; love Menards rebates! --70.92.xxx.xxx

We just finished a rehab on a small 2bd SFR. We replaced all ceiling fixtures with LED fixtures that were on clearance at Costco for $15 each. Tenants should have no reason to even take off the covers and, hopefully, they last a while and no one needs to change bulbs.

I remember being on a boy scout campout with my sons' troop about 12 years ago and another parent who was an electrician was predicting this phenomena and I so glad we are upon it! We just have to see if they really last the 7 to 10 years. --99.198.xxx.xx
