Bats-cont. (by Pat [VA]) Posted on: Sep 30, 2026 1:09 PM Message:
Our handyman came by Monday and went up into attic to check and they were gone! I've waited to say anything, but he checked around and didn't see any so he put wire up inside, the heavy rat wire. We were prepared to try the screen trick on the outside but didn't have to do that. Thank goodness. prayers work more than luck, plus I am wondering when he went up there and disturbed them and closed off the one end, if they knew they were in trouble? One had dropped down and flew over to the closed side. We told him to come down because we didn't want him in any danger.
Between the human intrusion and noise of him stapling the other wire, maybe they decided to just leave for quieter space? I'll take it either way, what a relief. Another thing to keep an eye out for, old and rotted screens over gable vents!
Thanks for all of the suggestions and tips. --216.126.xx.xx |

Awesome news.
I once had them coming out of a commercial chimney on a three- story building --50.96.xx.xxx |

We had them one summer. It's illegal to evict them during the brood months! We put up heavy wire, laced the attic with moth balls, and added a sound generator with a motion switch.
The sound is outside normal human range, but seems to be very effective on bats! --74.222.xx.xxx |
