That happened here 3-4 years ago. I had already switched to click before that because they changed the formula at some point and started using bright white under the wear layer, so every scratch or ding was highlighted. I also had a lot of glue strip failures, particularly in kitchens/baths where there was some water. I like click a lot better except when I have to replace/repair a plank. --99.64.xx.xx

I just got a house back today that I had put the glue strip allure in 12 years ago. It came back perfect. I have had some failures at some properties, but all in all, more wins than losses. I just can’t justify the $2.50 a sq ft on new floors, but, it was so fast and easy. --47.185.xxx.x

With rental units or houses any domestic flooring is at best a 3 year landfill option where a lot of landlords here never learn where are in the continuous landfill. At expensive upfront and labour intensive is a commercial grade porcelain floor where first of all non combustion proof along water proof once a Schluter ditra membrane place down first. A pet sneaked in then with quick mopping with bleach cleaned right away. Buy a couple of boxes so if any tile is broken just replace. Most of HD product is made in China where once order completed obsolete plus gives off gases. With commercial grade flooring with special Schluter ditra membrane can install radiant floor heating with Uponor special heating pex. I can seem to get the technique of the click flooring. Maybe im not strong enough and the boxes are heavy to carry. Straight Cutting is OK with saw. But the allure glue strip was so easy for me to buy and use and cut. Guess my flooring days are almost over! Lol --172.59.xxx.xxx

Never was lucky with the glue strips. I did one tiny half bath. After that I couldn't get two pieces together correctly. Ended up selling the pallet I had left. --47.227.xx.xxx

Tile here is a liability really. Houses are elevated so subject to settling and shifting - cracking is a very real possiblity except on slabs. VERY humid so tile can actually get WET if the AC isn't running full-blast. And grout is simply gross and extremely difficult to clean properly. --173.18.xx.xxx

From personal experience tenants do not take care of flooring or anything else in a rental unit where removed carpets, hardwood flooring and commercial vinyl tiles. Always used commercial grade deadbolts with passage lock so can not lock themselves out. Used metal covers for light switch and receptacle covers. Even in house using commercial grade porcelain flooring as will last a long time. The worst experience with commercial porcelain flooring she ripped up grouting where she called the building inspector again mold in bathroom where she was doing laundry with hot water. Re grouted floor then went to head building inspector where showed laundry room then ask what can do if she was doing laundry with hot water in bathtub. Building inspector was not cooperative. Told me I should charge a higher rent where he does not enforce building codes on the illegal apartments in houses. Often tenants look for a bargain in rent while ignoring safety as once in while there is serious injury or loss of life in those illegal apartments in houses.
