Well our house build is moving along...
The siding is mostly up, the rough-ins are done, the shingle roof is on, and wall insulation is going in tomorrow. Drywall work begins Tuesday and we make a trip to NC (Holly Springs) on about August 10th for a "trim walk" where we meet with the trim carpenter to go over...
Baseboards, window casing style, custom ceilings, closet layouts/shelving, pantry layouts, decorative trim above fireplace, and any other trim items
We have a lot of custom trim requirements with some really neat ceiling designs, vaulted ceilings with wood beams, lots of closets for storage, and some really cool natural wood elements mixed into our "drop zones"...so this will be a key part of the house design.
All is going well so far other than some delays on key items like a sliding glass door with mini blinds between the glass that took almost three weeks longer to get and therefore delayed most other work.
Hope to be moving in the fall

Great to hear your progress. Glad it is moving along. Fall will be a great time for moving and you will get to see the nice fall colors on your trip. Wish I were building a new one instead of tearing out an old one. Would probably be much easier. --73.19.xxx.xx |

Congrats on your project! I know you are a creative guy so this must be fun to create a whole house!
I also know you are a fantastic highest level woodworker so have you warned the trim carpenter who he needs to please?:)

Thanks Brad. The house has a 600 sqft woodshop attached that’s heated and cooled with a separate HVAC system so I’m sure the trim carpenter knows about my hobby lol. I’m actually doing a few things myself such as some floating shelves, office cabinet installation, and a custom mailbox.
