Redoing a kitchen, this is the first time I’m considering quartz counters vs Formica. If I do the quartz, should I do flat counter or one with the lip up on the backsplash and then tile from there.
The Formica always comes with a lip.

What are you doing with the wall behind the top?
If you are going to tile it then it is a matter of looks. If it is just going to be drywall then maybe the backsplash will add extra protection from spills.
I think either way it depends on what you want it to look like. The flat will maybe be cheaper tho. --47.227.xx.xxx |

Based strictly on appearances I would say flat if you will be tiling. It’s easy to keep the line behind the sink nicely caulked. --162.204.xxx.xxx |

Flat countertop, do a backsplash. "cheap" way to make to it look fancy. --170.203.xxx.xxx |
