I purchased a Defender brand setup. Some initial product problems involving a bad DVR and 1 camera.

decent picture quality once it was setup BUT customer service and chat support wasn't good.

For what it's worth, these aren't wireless or wi-fi; they use cat 6 cable to transmit the camera date and provide power to the cameras. --98.255.xx.xx

I am running Hikvision with color vue cameras. Cost a bit more but give great color night vision not like the old IR cameras. I am running 4tb to get three weeks + worth of recordings. --181.214.xxx.xxx

I set up an old desktop computer with Blue iris and 5 POE cameras a few years ago. One camera operates intermittently, but otherwise happy with the system. It's not connected to Internet, so no remote viewing. --204.111.xxx.xxx

Agree with Tony. Wireless cameras are great for watching pets, but they aren't for security and can be easily rendered useless without the end user having ever known.

Also, just a reminder that you should never post what security setup you're using or where. If a bad actor had ill intent, you've just given him a list of cve's to research. --143.105.x.xx

I currently have a Eufy system running at a house being remodeled. WiFi isn’t necessary but nice so I get the alerts and can view them on my phone.

My IT guy says the system from UNify is the best. He might be right but it was more complicated so I didn’t use it.

I used a BlueIris system at a commercial property for years. It was excellent. I was running 8 cameras on that system including one that recorded true 4K. For most people it’s probably overkill. --162.204.xxx.xxx

If you can get by with a Wi-Fi camera you can stick on a window and plug into an outlet look up girifit on Amazon. With an SD card loaded on the camera you can get the camera recording on your phone live for no subscription --172.59.xxx.xxx
