I wonder how Sid has been. I know I miss hm and the site isn't the same without him. Hope he is doing well.
Has anyone heard from him?
Sid if you are out there, we REALLY do need YOU.

Maybe some of our St. Louis landlords might be able to give us an update on Sid.
I also miss other landlords like Cimba who are no longer landlords but have a lot of experience and wisdom they could share. --23.245.xxx.xx |

I bet he still reads here - at least occasionally.
I always enjoyed his posts & learned from him - he seemed to give good, clear advice base on real experience.
However, he decided that he could not share the space respectfully with others, or maybe was just too stressed out trying to do so.
Whatever his reasoning, I can respect that he has chosen to be silent. It's completely his choice / in his control. I would also be glad to welcome him back, if he ever chose to return.
I agree - even if you are not active any more, in a certain rental class, or as a landlord at all: you still have lots of experience to share if you choose to.
We all need to keep learning all the time.
I think it is very important - in life, not just land lording - to be able to discern what information is legitimate / true / has valuable to you. And we must know how to take what is useful to use it for improvement and how to leave behind anything that does not seem legitimate or valuable to us.
Live and let live - or as I have heard it said elsewhere: take what you like and leave the rest. --72.218.xx.xxx |

Sorry that SID couldn't take some of the BS that was being tossed around. I fear that it is coming back and thus SID will not.
I was vocal about my dislike of certain postings and was about to leave as well. Maybe that would make the place better? --47.227.xx.xxx |

Zero. Just ignore. Don't you ignore folks in real life? Or other spaces online? Just ignore those you don't want to interact with. Easy. --173.18.xx.xxx |

But why ignore somebody when you can remove oneself from their stories altogether? Would you be in a group that talked of animal abuse if you were an animal activist? Why not just ignore it? I’d rather just not have the stupidity in my presence, so I get his stance. --143.105.x.x |

I like to have a good time. I joke and kid around.
I do not like when people lie, but alas that is life and liars gonna lie.
I do not like it when someone belittles my country either. But people have the right to their opinions. So I say my piece about it and move on, same with the lies.
What I do not like, and complain about constantly, is when someone lies and it could cause injury or incarceration.
Some of the stories are so absurd that almost anyone could see thru them.
People that come here should be smart enough to figure that out. Some will not, and that is sad.
What is worse is when a person starts spouting off all this rubbish and someone new comes in to check on the site. Now the credibility of the forum is at stake.
I have stopped my comments on every post with a lie in it, I do not like it but it is allowed and I honestly feel it damages the community that we have. --47.227.xx.xxx |

Jason, it's true you CAN remove yourself if you don't like someone. That's what SID did. But I still think a lot of the info here is valuable. Sometimes it might be right for one person but doesn't work for me or my state. I have to use a filter.
Sometimes it's sheer lunacy. But I can't worry about another idiot, I have my own idiocies to manage. --173.18.xx.xxx |

Sid gave some good advice but what I do not miss is all the unpleasant fighting and the attacks on other posters.
It is possible to disagree without being rude and hostile. I appreciate this forum because it is pretty much all done politely and there is no flaming and no trolls and it all gets done without any name calling or strident arguments. --76.178.xxx.xxx |

I think there's a core of people who participate in this forum but I think active board participants are a much smaller group than those who lurk or participate occasionally judging from the number of people who attend the conference.
I think that ignoring or going absent are both valid responses. I guess the choice depends if you perceive the value you're getting is more than the perceived problem(s). --23.28.x.xxx |

I can confirm a Sid sighting in the past 10 months.
Ne, some people named in this thread I also miss.... and some....... well.....
I lurk on occasion... for me I found it's difficult helping people, who while in this trade, have socialist tendencies and other values that conflict with values of other capitalists in the same business...
There's also too much baloney by the usual suspects....
¯_(Ä)_/¯
