We have a supplier in Farmville, about 20 miles from us and he is so expensive, we rarely buy anything there. There is also one near Lynchburg that we usually go to but I was doing a search (it pays) and found one yesterday in Rustburg and we went today (same distance as Lynchburg) about 44 miles and saved 200.00 on a combo door and an inside window!

Our handyman is slow but careful and we pay him 30.00 an hour and his son 20.00 to help. So anxious to get this unit back up to speed and praying the HVAC checkup is not too bad, no telling when it quit, she never told us anything!

BTW, does anyone have any experience with the new fiberglass doors versus the old Styrofoam with metal orange peel surface? --216.126.xx.xx

Was at the mobile home supply house yesterday. Needed a shut of value. I do not know any thing about the doors but would welcome a change from the old style. The ladt one i ordered worked but it's not attractive and it was special order and came in the wrong size. Luckily to big and we modified. --172.59.xx.xx

Don't they have simple Miller HVAC systems? You should be able to go to a regular specialty supply store if so. --67.140.xx.xx

Going to the "Big" guys in the mobile/trailer industry is expensive. Most of the time things are on back order. It is a racket.

So I found myself a solution for parts and hard to get supplies for my trailer park partnership.

When I was looking for a custom shop that added tool boxes, ladders, ladder racks and more to one's truck, I FOUND A SHOP THAT DID (1) New installation, (2) Used repairs and installs, (3) and Repairs.

(4) They also sold used Mobil Homes, Trailers, Trucks and more.

So I went there and spoke with the owner. We had a present conversation. One of his employee's was a parts finder. He went to Grave Yards for old trucks, mobile homes, etc. So I set up a meeting with the owner of the shop and the parts finder.

At first they were not interested in my small needs. Then I handed out several of my business cards. Jeweler from 1974, when gold was only $320 and oz. Telling them I could make them a deal on gifts for their wives, daughters and family members. In exchange for finding me parts.

We agreed that if they sold me the used/new parts at market, we could apply the payment towards jewelry. I also offered them a connection to tires, another friend owns a wholesale tire dealership.

So I needed some parts last month that I could of had fabricated for $600. Instead they found old used stock in great shape and charged me $200 against jewelry. I could have given them a Gift Card to an eatery instead.

The barter system is not dead! --47.156.xxx.xx
