Currently have 7 active doors. Only one of which is a standard "family" (2 adults/2 children). Five properties, 7 toters.

Old local trash removal (not the greatest) has been acquired by a big boy which will no doubt up prices. Alternative is the trash removal company that totaled one of our work vans with their robotic trash arm and didn't pay a cent in compensation leading us to get our commercial auto policy cancelled (no fault here in NYS). Our auto policy premium has almost tripled.

I have put out the word on social media if anyone knows of any other companies in the area. We are getting ready to launch the 4 family which would bring us to 11 doors.

I have also been thinking of getting biweekly instead of weekly (if available) trash pickup due to the shrinking family sizes of renters these days. The toter sizes just seem to be getting larger and larger

DH has proposed just putting out toters and dumping them ourselves at the transfer station when full.

Congrats on growing the business. Trash, especially on commercial accounts is an easy place to save on expenses, as they tend to creep up.

It sounds like, clearly, you are out in the country - where people take their stuff to a transfer station.

I have a property like that, with no city services "included" in the property tax.

The property tax rate also is less, BTW.

The "only" option for me is to pay a company to come pick it up at the street. The resident must pull the toters back & forth.

There is NO WAY I would go collect someone else's trash and haul it around every week. Is your DH serious?!

It's a cost of doing business - yes it's increasing, like everything else - that's just how it is. Bi-weekly may be a good option, if it is enough for the residents, BUT - from experience - they may have trouble remembering which week to put it out and end up with overflowing cans and a whole other problem.
