Hello everyone,

Im moving my rentals into an LLC and one tenant pays direct to my personal venmo account. Does Venmo work with LLC accounts?

Thanks --108.250.xxx.xx

My small, local bank does not do Zelle or Cashapp or Venmo with biz accounts, primarily because of the risk factor. So I connected Zelle and Cashapp to a larger regional bank where I had a checking account that was near-dormant and gathering dust.

My husband's regional bank does Cashapp and Venmo with biz accounts, but I believe that there's a fee to use it in connection with a business account. At least, his bank charges a fee for Cashapp.

For me, since connecting Zelle and Cashapp to my biz accounts were never an option, I have tenants Zelle/Cashapp to my personal account, and then I write myself a check to deposit it where it needs to go. Since I'm a single-member LLC in Texas, it hasn't been problematic.

So-- if it was me, I would check if my bank allowed biz accounts to connect to Venmo, and then see if Venmo has extra surcharges with biz accounts that they don't have with personal accounts. You might have better luck if you chose a medium-sized bank-- not something huge like Chase or BofA or Citi, where you need to keep, like, $5-$7k cash cushion to avoid monthly fees just for having an account, but also not something so small that it's easier for them to avoid peer-to-peer transfers that come with significant data and financial risks. --96.46.xxx.xxx

I have Venmo dump into my biz account at my CU. They don't seem to care. Only have one tenant doing that. Might have another that prefers it but not sure just yet.

Running Venmo as a non-business since I only get one hit a month. That might make a difference, but I am unsure. --47.227.xx.xxx

You should be able to link your Venmo account to your LLC bank account. I have my Venmo linked to a personal bank account and an LLC bank account. I can send money to/from either account by choosing within the app. --70.166.xxx.xx

Why not put it into a land trust instead? Then you don't have to worry about changing the money transfers? --173.188.xx.xx
