sadden me, but it is not new.

Just the same though, if you know money is flowing out of any of these states, and you still elect to ignore that net negative flow - it wouldn't be the tax that is going to chew you up and spit you out. It is the effect of that negative flow from these state economies that destroys cash flow and appreciation.
