State Specific Question About: NEW JERSEY (NJ)
What is the maximum late fee charge in dollars or percentages. Also, is the percentage based on the balance due at the end of the month or based on the monthly rent? --73.178.xxx.xxx |

In my state, it’s the lessor of 10% of the rent or 10% of the remaining balance. I don’t know your states’ laws. --172.56.xxx.xxx |

In MA once the rent is 30 days late we can charge a "reasonable" late fee. My late fees are approximately 6-7% of the monthly rent. By the time we can legally apply a late fee most MA LLs will have already served a 14 day notice to quit for non-payment. --96.237.xx.xx |
