I've been seeing ppl say put pedestal sinks in bathrooms... maybe its just me... I dont think that is a good use of space. I generally put in sinks with cabinets.

Does anyone put in pedestal sinks and reasoning?

I put them in anywhere I'm able to and since I've started, I haven't had any more broken cabinet doors or water damaged vanities to worry with. I also install grid strainer drains so that I don't have broken pop-ups to fool with. Really the end goal is to speed up turnovers and reduce maintenance items. --3.215.xxx.xxx

In the house bought double and single sinks where put a plywood sheet then mounted to wall where Ikea sinks come in all sizes along with corner sink cabinets. Ikea uses metric measurements where can convert to imperial measurements. Better to pay more then if possible a porcelain sink. Nothing in rental if abused will stand up against vandalism where can only buy residential grade. There can be legs where better to wall mount as less problems. With plywood and wood the sink must secure where can stand the weight. Above floor is better as sink cabinet will stay dry. --216.110.xxx.xxx

I try to match the sink to the size of the room. When I need to save space, I use a pedestal sink. When I have lots of space, I'll prioritize a vanity. --172.58.xxx.xx

They provide their own storage, usually with over the commode type cabinet shelves or small wicker cabinets. God help them if they have half the number of things my gf has in our bathroom though. --129.222.xxx.xx

Those plastic three high draws fit right next to the pedestal. --172.59.xxx.xxx

I prefer cabinets as well but I have pedestal sinks in units where the sink is close to the door and a vanity might take up too much area. I have one where I switched to a tiny vanity instead and I think I prefer that to a pedestal.

I use cabinets that are all hardwood so the water damage is minimal. I’ve also started to use silicone mats below. This has been working well. --162.204.xxx.xxx

We use tiny euro sinks with tiny cabinets in small bathrooms. Barely wash your hands. No one has ever cared. --73.216.xxx.xxx

I have been slowly putting in bigger vanities, where possible.

Apartment I just took back has a 24" vanity in it. I have a 30" prepped to go in there. Been doing this for a while now and the tenants love the extra storage space.

Anything to help keep the over the door hangers from popping up. --47.227.xx.xxx

Pedestal only where the space is too small for a vanity. To help compensate, build shelve on / recessed into the wall to hold "stuff". Plus definitely a medicine cabinet on the wall above it. --72.218.xx.xxx

Avoid any cabinets or shelves over the toilet because that can lead to items dropped into the toilet and causing clogs. --76.178.xxx.xxx

That has actually happened to one of tenants Oregon! I didn’t install it though, they did. I think it was a perfume bottle. The tenant paid for a new toilet. --162.204.xxx.xxx

Tenant that just moved out said she would leave the flimsy over the toilet cabinet.

She was not doing me any favors. I busted it up and put it in the trash. --47.227.xx.xxx

Vanity cabinets are expensive for good ones! The inexpensive ones are often made with that "iron on" edging...yuk. So I think many LLs dont use due to cost. For storage, instead just mount a wall shelf with a few cubbies...$40. I hate pedestal sinks (because they make access to the plumbing difficult) but they do eliminate the cost of the vanity. --64.149.xxx.xxx

Always pedestal sinks, always.

Women absolutely love pedestal sinks to wash their face in the morning and also in the evening. Think wide basins. You wanna create clean storage in the bathrooms? Install chrome shelving. These two things will sell your place to a tenant.

Under sink cabinets are a bug, dust and mildew collector.
