I want to update my lease for future tenants. My understanding is that legal documents are one sided. I try to be as efficient as possible and would like to print the lease out with print on both sides of a page. I wanted to know how others do this when getting a tenant to sign a paper lease.
Do you print your lease and addendums with print on one side or both sides of a page?
Thank you for your time. --73.19.xxx.xx |

My tenants sign a screen. That seems more efficient to me.
When I was still doing paper I did single sided print as I don't have a fancy printer.
But you can print both sides if you want. Just make sure that when they sign it the ink doesn't bleed thru I guess. --47.227.xx.xxx |

I don't think there is any "rule" or "law" about papers being single sided vs double sided to be legal because in NYS some of the forms we have in real estate are issued BY THE STATE and they are double sided forms (I print them single sided sometimes) but that is only for my convenience... the forms state "side one of a two sided form" ... if that makes any difference.
I think the "real" thing you should do and make sure is that your lease has numbered pages (page 1 of 6) type thing. That way if you miss a page you know it.
But I'm not a lawyer.
When I print my lease along with the addendums for the tenants to sign I print them all single sided. The main reason is so that I don't have to "flip" the pages and there is less risk of me missing a page. The other fact is that some pages are only one sided (my addendums) so when I go to scan them in so I have a soft copy I don't end up with blank pages. It's easier for me to just set them on the copier and scan them all in as one sided. --47.231.xx.xxx |

Legal documents can be printed either one-sided or two-sided. Legally it makes no difference. Also, either 8.5 by 11 or 8.5 by 14 -- both are legal.
I use 8.5 by 11, and single-sided, for my own convenience. --71.38.xx.xxx |

I do one side only because it’s just easier to go through. The is CA so there are a lot of pages --162.204.xxx.xxx |

just an observation: I bet you will end up wasting way more paper doing two-sided. --73.216.xxx.xxx |

Using "economy" grade copier paper, the back-side print can bleed through.
I can hardly remember now how I printed them - because I haven't printed any in quite a long time. But I think it was one-sided due to the above issue & just easier to keep straight.
All electronic now. I highly recommend it.

Thank you, everyone. I guess I will continue to print one-sided. Not going to electronic yet. I like to go over the lease in person and have real signatures, although I do email them a sample copy for their review ahead of time. --73.19.xxx.xx |
