MoneyGeek ranks states by average annual premium, with Rank 1 indicating the least expensive state. The national average premium is $3,548 per year ($296 per month). Actual premiums vary based on home age, construction, claims history and coverage levels. --50.96.xx.xx

I just did a post on what a typical person pays per year. Of course, typical folks file claims. I like my lower rates. So unless the loss is closer to $50,000 or even $75,000 - I wouldn't even consider it. That is just my opinion. You might be in a different boat.
