The waste of space and/or bot that posted something about "say her name" reminded me of the dead internet theory, a conspiracy theory that has now been proven to be factual. Firms, such as Cloudfare have done the research and confirmed that 51% of all internet traffic is now created by AI, which also drives social media posts to sway public opinion. Those heated arguments that you see under every post are mostly fake profiles made to get users to engage and it's all about driving the narrative of whomever has the means.

Take for example the "Outrage" about the Cracker Barrel Logo Change. Do you think people really cared? No, it was a marketing campaign fueled by AI that set the precedent for everybody else to follow.

Analysis by PeakMetrics and Cyabra showed that nearly half (44-49%) of the online outrage was manufactured by bots using templated scripts.

Nothing is as it seems.

If they can't shut a car off because they don't have the license plate, why not just shut off a 2x2 or 4x4 grid in an area and shut off all cars in the grid until they get the one fleeing? --75.7.xx.xx

Richard, it is getting to that but would get backlash right now, so they have to slowly increment that. It is actually possible now to use a laptop computer or other device wirelessly to connect to your car and control every function. Today's cars have multiple computers that are all interconnected and also tracking devices. The insurance companies already take advantage of the recording devices that are also in your car, like a "black box" on a plane. I believe there have been some instances where vehicles have been shut down before, like in auto theft. The time is here, and the use is increasing. --73.19.xxx.xx

Side note, I think that most of the blow ups regarding things like the Cracker Barrel sign or the jean commercial with Sydney Sweeney just make me question if I really want to deal with a company that so blatantly does this for the attention.

But.... you have never met me face to face. I could be AI as well, just a stupid model. --47.227.xx.xxx

Lots of study's coming out where those that use AI multiple times a day to answer simple questions have brain atrophy. AI is being used to influence and coerce power. My take on AI is that it's a necessary evil to further mankind. On the high end, a human may be on this earth for up to 100 years. When we die, all of that knowledge goes with us. When a child is born, they have to learn everything from ground zero.

Imagine, instead of a child starting school and learning 2+2, they instead learn to use a tool that has accumulated all of the knowledge mankind has ever known and the need to manually calculate is obsolete.

If AI acts as the permanent repository for the "how" and the "why" of every expert who ever lived, we finally break the cycle of forgetting. We stop wasting the first quarter of our lives on the basics and start contributing on day one.

If the goal is to reach the stars or cure the incurable, we can't afford the luxury of the slow path. We have to outsource our memory and our mechanics to a tool that doesn't die, so that we can finally focus on the next leap for our species. As the saying goes, adapt or die. --128.77.xx.xxx

Jason, I like that opposing view. It makes perfectly good sense what you described as to a faster path of learning and the accumulation of knowledge that is preserved. The two objecting parts of that would be the controlling nature AI will have and that AI can technically be destroyed and thus die itself. If AI were to be destroyed after years of using it then humans might really be starting from ground zero as they will not have developed any basic knowledge at all. So, where is the line in the sand? And, are you okay with such a thing as AI hovering over you and controlling your thoughts and moves? It will be in the infrastructure, vehicles and "smart" homes. --73.19.xxx.xx

Also, not everyone can be sitting behind a screen. Part of life involves hands on experience in actually building and growing things. You might get the general idea from AI but won't gain the ability to actually do it. We are humans not robots. --73.19.xxx.xx
