Is there a product I can use on the walls to kill the smell of cigarette smoke in my rental property? The tenants are gone, but the smell remains --163.182.xx.xx |

Wash the walls with TSP, prime everything with oil based killz. If the ceiling is popcorn, scrape and remove , prime with oil kilz. If carpet, remove and replace. Have air ducts cleaned, as well as AC coil. Easily 10k to get smoke

Do Ozone machines work? TY --163.182.xx.xx |

Regarding Ozone generators, an Ozone generator will always help, but it can't overcome a bad problem. If your problem isn't too bad, wash down the walls, clean the carpets and use an ozone generator. If your problem is really bad (e.g you can see trails of nicotine oil running down a wall), you'll have to consider Homers recommendations and use an ozone generator.
If you use an Ozone machine, follow the safety precautions.

You have to get rid of the nicotine before you can remove all the smells.
I washed walls down and used oil kilz but the smell returned after a month or so. It was difficult to get rid of by then.
OdorXit works great once you get the place cleaned up.
The apartment I am trying to finish now was the worst, or tied for it, as far as smells goes. Smoke and what I am guessing was body funk.
I sprayed literally everything down with OdorXit. Had already removed carpet, pad and even tack strips.
Deb at OdorXit helped me out. We couldn't get the smell completely gone. I used BIN, the real stuff not the new formula. I sealed the walls, ceilings and floors.
The living room was the worst place. I had it all sealed and still the smell was there, tho barely. I pulled the trim off the walls and sealed there as well, including the gap between the drywall and the floor.
I still think there is a slight hint of the smell to this day, but that could be just my imagination. Before, people would literally gag when they walked in there, or even close if the doors were open.
Magic by OdorXit works best for cigarettes smell. Their AQM will work as well, but takes longer. It is safe to use while in the place, unlike ozone generators. I ran those for a long time too.
Have fun, this made me realize that having non-smoking places is the way to go. I still have a few that smoke, but I don't take new ones. --47.248.xxx.xxx |

What Homer said. Sadly, there’s no cheap and easy solution to this problem, despite all the magical products, contraptions, and home hacks you may see advertised or promoted on the internet. --108.52.xxx.xxx |

A hack on the TSP use, use a sponge mop on the walls and ceiling. Odor X works well after that tar and nicotine are gone. You will see the water turn brown quickly with that TSP. It can and will tear up your hands so wear gloves --67.140.xx.xxx |
