I know we discussed this on here about six months ago. I’m wondering if people still think it’s a bad investment? I’ve watched gold prices for probably 20 years and I haven’t seen a surge like this before. It would be a bad investment today, but not two years ago at $2000. --24.152.xxx.xx

It is considered a hedge against inflation and forecasted economic hardship.

I wish I could explain the rational used by marketplace. I don't think the cost of items have doubled recently, so the market appears to be betting on a downturn. But where? Real estate? Stocks? GDP? --67.140.xx.xxx

I started my professional career in the Jewelry Trade, back in 1974 at the age of 14. Gold back then was around $85 to $115 per oz. When I exited the Jewelry trade back in the late 1980's, gold fluctuated between $500 to $650 per oz.

Last month I sold some old gold stuff, when it was around $3,200 to $3,400. And not it's topping $4,000 an oz.... --47.143.xx.xx

My brother works for a company that uses precious metals in some of the components that they manufacture. He was at a metals summit in NYC and the gurus say that silver will hit 50 and gold 5000 by the end of 2026.

Russia, China, India, and central banks are stock piling it and output does not meet demand.

total demand is about 5000 tons a year. Production is about 4000 tons a year.

Central banks bought about 1000 tons last year.

The question is, do you follow the big money?

Do they know something we do not?

Educate yourself to precious metals. Go to SD Bullion website and watch several of their videos. I think you will find their expert has been right for the past several years. very educational. In my opinion it is good to have a % of your portfolio in precious metals. Do not follow anyone that says to put everything in PMetals. --174.52.xxx.xxx

Ray is on the right track; as the dollar loses value, gold goes up. We follow Brian Kim, Clear Value Tax on you tube. He stated that on his daily 10 minute video yesterday. --75.11.xx.xx

Gold is being stockpiled by both China and especially Russia. It is an attempt to do transactions outside of the US dollar. That’s only part of it but a significant part.

I prefer stocks to gold. I guess seeing as I’m a landlord I prefer real estate as well. I do hold some gold but a distant third. --162.204.xxx.xxx
