Cons and pros of accepting vouchers! How does it work? Is it good or bad idea to accept? Any more rules you as a landlord need to follow? Ty --96.35.xx.xx

Screen as you would any other tenant. I don't think your state is insane like NY and CA which calls vouchers a "source of income"

Usually PREVIOUS rental history is the downfall of S8 voucher holders. --64.246.xxx.xx

Sandy, I'm also in Missouri. East side of the state of Missouri near St. Louis. There are many pros and cons, but it can work. It can also be good or bad just like market rent residents, Yes there are a few more "rules" or requirements. What are your concerns? --172.59.xxx.xxx

I don't want a third entity involved in my business, and I don't want to sign a contract with a third entity, and I don't want a government agent poking around in my business or my property. Gives me the willies.

So until I have to, no vouchers for me. --173.28.xx.xxx

Are section 8 tenants harder to evict for none payments? What would be to process in MO --96.35.xx.xx

For me it wasn't that they were harder to evict but that they had little or no income that could be garnished.

That meant they didn't really care about the threat of eviction.

My housing authority was very bad about letting the voucher holders get away with anything so they could keep their numbers up.

That is why I stopped accepting them. I have had better luck with people that actually earn their keep. --47.248.xxx.xxx

I am personally not a fan. Last person I had from the program, I inherited and they didn't appreciate being told how to take of the place. So, at lease renewal, I didn't renew. The same thing however would have happened if someone on a year-to-year lease. The difference would have been how long I had to wait.

My issue was the time between mowing grass in the springtime coupled with the late night screaming and yelling when walking aimlessly around the neighborhood. When two separate unrelated females say they don't feel safe with the erratic behavior, that troublemaker would be finding a new home. --67.140.xx.xxx

Sandra, same process. Actually maybe a little easier to avoid even getting there. An eviction filed causes the Voucher holder to loose their voucher and only under certain situations can they get it get back. So they will generally move rather than risk LL filing. --172.59.xx.xx
