Anyone ever install one of these and can give the results?

So I found one of these new at auction. It is the ScaleBlaster Model: SB-75. Claims it is for houses under 4,000 sq ft. Just the spouse and I now, although she is a long shower taker.

The reviews are across the board, most of the bad ones seem to either be about how it is installed or the fact that they don't see instant effects. Some of the good ones seem to be from a placebo effect, but for the most part seem legit.

I have a softener already but still get scale build-up. I am on a well, which will be tougher to contend with for the smaller unit. But I bought the first one for under $40 and figured it would be cheap enough for a test.

One town that I have holdings in has such bad scale build-up it destroys everything. Just cleaned an apartment and the worst part was the scale build-up at the aerators. Soaked in vinegar and took care of that, but the water heater gets the brunt of it.

I ended up getting three of these units at auction. Again for cheap. All three were less than one retail.

Attempting to finish a rehab and thought I might wire one in as another test.

I do not expect this thing to be a miracle worker. But if it does help keep the scale down it will make things easier to clean. Bonus is that it might keep the water heater going longer as well, at least the elements.

There is no place to stick a water softener in these apartments, but I can add an outlet next to the water heater where the main comes in.

When i did this house I put a tankless gas water heater in specifically for her and the kids.

Well I had a little down time at home and installed one of the units. It is not set up for wells as they usually have more PPM than city water.

But I figured anything should help a little.

Counting the wraps has proven to be an ordeal. I have PEX so that is seventy wraps. Counted as I went. Then counted when I was done. Then added and counted again. Then had the wife count. My head hurts from all the counting.
