If you provide those, I also suggest providing fire blankets. Cheap, easy to use. We were able to order a dozen or more I forget at a great price from Amazon.

One more tool for the toolbox. --173.28.xx.xxx

WMH-I provide smoke detectors because i am required to, i believe if a landlord provides fire blankets they are saying they want a tenant to attempt to put out a fire,if someone gets hurt doing that it sounds like grounds for a lawsuit to me.I want them to get out of the house,i have insurance to cover the loss --167.172.xx.xx

We no longer use the ones that take 9 volt batteries. Too many tenants remove them.

Always the 10 year permanent lithium battery. And wherever possible, dual power and linked smokes.

Dates with a sharpie, reminder on calendar to test every year. --216.218.xxx.xxx

I am switching over to the 10 year sealed as well. They can still take the thing down and put it in a drawer or another room, but I am providing better coverage than I was before.

Was not aware for the longest time that smokes needed swapped out after ten years because they can become clogged up and not function properly.

Some people say that the 10 year units only last 5 to 7. I am testing that theory.

Once I get caught up on my rehab work I plan to start replacing smokes in the other places. --47.248.xxx.xxx
