Yeah, OK, imagine hiring a plumber from Harvard? Hi, I’m here to work on your sink, my name is Ron, my pronouns are they/them. You can call me Ruby. Thanks. --24.152.xxx.xx |

I more think it would shut up the moms & dads & grammas who don't believe the trades are worthy. Also - more money and focus on the trades. --173.28.xx.xxx |

My dad went to Harvard on the GI bill after WWII (War ended while he was in boot camp.) He dropped out in Year 4 - closed to graduation, I know that - to marry my mother...and have my brother a few months later ;)
He told me just attending Harvard got him every job he ever had for the rest of his career. Just having it on a resume was the golden ticket. Better than a diploma hands down.
Not that he ever climbed to high corporate levels - he was a heavy-equipment salesman. Wore a suit & tie and a hard hat. But still. Excellent money. And interesting the weight it carried. --173.28.xx.xxx |

I have not watched your video. But the college near me is adding Auto Mechanics. So if they are willing to teach trades I think that's great. --172.59.xxx.xxx |

I doubt it would shut them up. You’d have to view Harvard as still reputable first to make any real changes. --24.152.xxx.xx |

That's why the idea of encouraging colleges and universities like Harvard to provide training and degrees in things we actually need as a country in order to get federal funding is a good one. We don't WANT to pay for professors who teach a class on Ru Paul's Drag Race. Harvard can, free speech, but not with federal money. --173.28.xx.xxx |

As they should. It's horrible hard work sometimes. Not that I do it, but coincidently I watched DH and DS#3 come home today dirty and bedraggled from crawling under a house to replace grey pipe we should have replaced years ago and didn't. Now the plumber wants $10k because HE doesn't want to crawl under the house either...can't convince DH it's $10k well spent so under the house they go... --173.28.xx.xxx |

Had a plumber come in to help with a hot water issue.
They swapped out the shower valve, which didn't help.
Got the bill and it was $650.
I still had the original problem.
They sent me a survey, but I did not fill it out because it was such a waste of time and money.
Also I do not appreciate people coming into my places reeking of pot. No, I do not mean the toilet. --47.248.xxx.xxx |

Our plumber is great, he comes when called for the regular things and for phone consults, but he's busier than a one-armed paper hanger and old like us to boot. He didn't want this job. --173.28.xx.xxx |

I would not hire that plumber. It might have the opposite effect. I wouldn't want to pay Harvard repair prices and employers wouldn't want to pay the salaries. --162.204.xxx.xxx |
