We drove down to the beach today to celebrate our 60th anniversary. We're playing it low key, as was our wedding, Justice of the Peace in a little town called Reidsville. No photos, no flowers, no cake. He was 19 and I was 16, destined for failure but we made it work!

We decided to splurge on a whole house generator, and we had to get a large gas tank. The gentleman called us and asked about my husband's credit? He asked if it was frozen, there was nothing out there? I told hubby, "Use mine". The guy on the other end put in my name and immediately changed his tone of voice and exclaimed, "Yes, that's fine, hers is 811!"

It is kind of a game around here between the wife and I on who has the higher credit score. Somehow I have been winning when I don't even have a W2 and she does.

It helps keep us happy I guess. Still years away from the 60 mark, but we passed the halfway mark.

I have a 19 year old son and the thought of him marrying a 16 year old blows my mind.

I just looked it up and in 2020 Minnesota passed a law that you must be 18 to get married. No exceptions.

Thanks everyone! My Mom was with us, she signed for me, against her better judgement but there was a real need for it!

I am told the next 60 years is easier than the first sixty years. Not sure how we can prove that

I love simple. You both did it right and kept it simple. Look at all the money most humans throw away on lavish weddings just to get a divorce. They still haven't figured things out either.

Well done, Pat and Mr. Pat! 42 years for us, I think we'll make 60. We were married at 19 and 23 years. For us, the urgency was I convinced him to join the military with me, so four weeks after our wedding, we shipped off to bootcamp.
