I'm in Idaho. I just assume all of my tenants have guns and already know how to keep them properly.
I don't give move-in gifts, other than a new roll of paper towels in the kitchen and a new roll of t.p. in each toilet paper holder.
And a spotlessly clean house with everything in good repair. --76.178.xxx.xxx |

I like to have a small basket of items that will allow them to make it thru move in day. It doesn't cost that much and it allows you to stand out in a crowd --98.17.xx.xxx |

Have some Tennesseans moved there?
I give them a roll of paper towels and toilet paper, a plunger and scrub brush, and usually glass top stove cleaner and maybe soft scrub. Sometimes I buy a whole case of water bottles to have water at lease signing and I leave the rest for them in the refrigerator if they want them.
They gift us with move-in funds and the rent. Plus I get at least a year of puppy petting. --73.19.xxx.xx |

plenty,
I picked up on your humor!
We now get WOWs with a cute gift bag full of SNACKS and CHOCOLATE. No peanuts. M&Ms, Goldfish...
Cats? Walmart sells a little bag of cat treats for $1.29.
Dogs? A couple of dog biscuits from our pantry.
Dog bone shaped WOOF welcome mat.
Kids? My helper suggested crayons. NO!! Wifey found some toy monster trucks at Dollar (and a quarter) Tree.

Plenty, you do not want the liability that potentially comes from providing gun locks. If the sheriff wants to give them out, then let him give them out. All it takes is one section eight crackhead mother with a gun and your gun lock on it not watching their kid and you’ll be on the headline news instead of them. --174.249.xx.xx |

Re: gun locks - does anyone require that guns be registered? And state how many owned ? And type... I mean if they have unregistered aks and a grenade launcher... no but seriously. Which reminds me of another question that's come up... what if tenant catches a felony while in your place... whether sentence keeps them out of the big house or they end up a guest of the county pr state ... I had one section 8 tenant who caught a felony, they cut off rent instantly. Then I was stuck with eviction. Thoughts? Sorry multi part question. Sort of all related though thanks --172.58.xxx.xxx |

I do not require gun registration. That would be a silly thing to try, at least in my state.
I have unregistered AKs, but no grenade launchers. They are too expensive anyhow.
I had a tenant get put in county lockup for DV. He was not on S8. I did an emergency eviction when he got out because he added even more drama.
He got tossed back in the clink shortly after. Then he kept calling me from the jail. I had to block the number.
Then the guy working for me started laughing and asked who he would call if he got hauled in. --103.103.xx.xx |
