I am replacing a unit's 5 windows, in a poorer, working-class area. In around 3 yrs, I hope to just cash out. I was thinking vinyl, single slider, but there's also fiberglass & aluminum. Any thoughts?

Some poorly made Vinyl windows with duel pain (two sheets of glass with a hollow void between the glass. They sometimes use Black Rubber to seal the glass to the frame. When your window faces the sun, the void get super heated and the rubber will start to melt.

I got a lifetime warranty for a building with over 100 windows. They all failed, and the window company and their insurance carrier paid to replace them all.. --47.155.xx.xxx

Guess I'd start getting bids and start there. Window World has an excellent transferable warranty. --172.59.xxx.xx

The cheapest design of a window you can get is a picture window

Single hung windows are the next cheapest

Followed by double hung.

Be careful to make sure you have the necessary egress in bedrooms --173.188.xx.xxx

Going with a mid grade vinyl from a company that will still be in business when you sell is my vote.

Looks good to renters and you can tell them how energy efficient they ore versus single pane wooden sashes.

Maintenance free. Easy to use and maintain. I have sliders but prefer single hung if money is the reason. Tenants can put window shakers in as well.

The vinyl should still look good when you are ready to sell and be a boost for your listing.

I put in quite a few vinyl from Home Depot and Lowes and they are fine in low end to moderate levels houses i deal with. Why wait 3 years? i believe we are at the top of the market, do your own research but you might get more now than 3 years from now --143.244.xxx.xx
