WATCH - Zohran Mamdani Pushes for 'Abolition of Private Property'
Olivia Rondeau
2–3 minutes
________________________________________
Zohran Mamdani is being slammed for advocating for the “abolition of private property” in a recently resurfaced video as the self-proclaimed socialist campaigns for New York City mayor.
“My platform is that every single person should have housing, and I think faced with these two options, the system has hundreds of thousands of people unhoused, right? For what?” the Democrat nominee said in the clip.
“If there was any system that could guarantee each person housing, whether you call it the abolition of private property, or you call it a statewide housing guarantee, it is preferable to what is going on right now.”
Mamdani went on to say that detractors “try to play ‘gotcha’ games” with the concept.
“People try to play ‘gotcha’ games about these kinds of things — look, I care more about whether somebody has a home.”
Donald Trump Jr. sarcastically commented, “Yea, this guy is definitely not a communist.”
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) simply stated in his own post, “He is a communist.”
Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) slammed New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) and the state’s Democratic Party for paving the way for Zohran to win the primary:
“Yes, you heard that right. Like the true Communist he is, Commie Mamdani supports the ‘abolition of private property,'” the congresswoman wrote. “This is the NY Democrat Party @KathyHochul you lead and you have failed to condemn this dangerous insanity.”
Other policies previously championed by the Ugandan-born mayoral candidate include buying up private housing to convert into communes, “seizing the means of production,” and city-run grocery stores, Bre it bart News reported.
Despite his views, Mamdani has denied claims from President Donald Trump that he is a “communist”:

In Cuba there is no private property where Cubans do not pay rent or for utilities as a result of this everything is deteriorating. Also Cuba has import 70 per cent of food where at the restaurant the people working there were stealing food than taking it home. Before closing there was no food left. Cuban government asked the UN for help where mismanagement along with any making money is not tolerated. China and Vietnam have private enterprise where that help them for the economy to grow. While the socialist propose things everyone knows it does not work. For example government non profit housing is supposed to be non profit where the people on top are making substantial money and benefits that private sector never get. Mismanagement is that money is not theirs where only concerned about kick backs. Every country has laws that prevent this as in Canada we live in free enterprise economy where the stupid tariffs are trying to distort that. In a free enterprise world you bypass a country that imposes high tariffs along with stop buying from that country including defence. So in the end you can abolish a countries free enterprise system so manufacturing will return. In the end as the boycott the trade deficient has become worse. --216.110.xxx.xxx |

I say we give them what they want. Spin them off as their own "trial" country for a 20 year test. Let them implement these policies without inhibition from the Feds and without providing external resources, they have to be self sufficient. If at the end of 20 years they are able to feed and care for themselves and they still want communism then they can continue. My bet they will be begging to come back within 5 years when it goes down the tubes or they will be fleeing the city in droves and it will be a ghost town. --209.205.xxx.xx |

Once they are set and start to fail it will be a bigger burden for the communities around them.
I say let them leave for countries that have already set themselves up. Then we have more space for those that can't get the things they are trying for anyhow.
Ken, I was unaware. Seems I do not pay attention to other states politics. --107.147.xx.xx |

Robert/CA, Alberta made a pipeline deal with the US, according to what I'm hearing today. They bypassed Ottawa completely. They are talking about reviving Keystone too.
SO the tariffs won't matter to them at least.
I don't understand it all, but it's apparently happening. --173.28.xx.xxx |

They are going to build a pipelines to the coasts where it completely bypass the north south arrangement. A billion dollars was spent in the province of Quebec where hydro electric power is going to power the upgraded aluminium plant. The defense procurement is going to come from the EU where steel and aluminium is going to used from here. Trading directly with Mexico where Tomatos are going come from Mexico along with other trading directly with Mexico where will help Mexico process natural gas bypassing the Us. The pipelines are going to use Canadian steel only along with the cheap steel from China is out. Inter provincial trade where all trade barriers were removed where now there are uniform regulations coast to coast. This year we will meet the 2 per cent of GNP on military procurement from the EU and Korea. A very nasty country no way. There is boycott of products from the Us where it sits on the shelves. The trade deficient is worse now as many countries have boycotted products. In a free market economy government intervention does not work where a industrial policy is about healthcare, education and green energy along with container efficient rail system. While those who are well are getting massive tax breaks that is absolutely improving economy. The tourism sector is in decline in the Us as well where the border cities are saying we are welcome not really. The world is changing where you can isolate from the rest of the world. --216.110.xxx.xxx |

Zero, some things can transfer between Mexico and Canada through the US mainland without our involvement. Cattle for one. If a tractor trailer load goes between countries, a hoof can’t touch our soil. --24.152.xxx.xx |

Can that same tractor trailer make if from Mexico to Canada without refueling?
That's what I was getting at. The driver is still going to be purchasing US goods at US prices, thus helping the US economy, even if only by a little.
I was not aware of the info you provided tho. Interesting. --107.147.xx.xx |

Spend some time out here plenty. Yeah there are some wild ideas but CA is actually really beautiful and most of the people are really great.
I don’t love a lot of the policies but even with them I have managed to make a generous living. So I take the bad with the good.
If you leave any of the urban areas the people would align more closely with your politics. What you here and see on universally biased media is not real. --162.204.xxx.xxx |

Canadian Pacific has trains that cross directly into Mexico where refrigerated rail cars will transport tomatoes and other produce through the Us rail net work. Not difficult where railways move goods right through the Us. Well the tariffs are short sighted where Us trade court declared illegal. It is a matter of time where the Supreme court makes the final decision. In the meantime it is going to time to decouple where the EU and other nations will be trading more. Defense is finished where military procurement is the EU and other nations as we going to meet the 2 per cent of GNP this year. Take lumber it is going to push the price of building a house significantly higher along with everything else. Companies are only concerned about maximizing profits where unable to absorb price increases in materials. The future looks good where there is no national emergency. Owning a rental building is about cost where it is better to cut costs then ask for cost pass through with higher rents. You rent for profit not for a loss. A constant review how operating costs can be reduced where the value of the rental complex goes up as income goes up. In order to compete against other countries is a about education, healthcare, utility costs and transportation costs. Where require green energy like hydro electric power to produce aluminium that can compete with other countries. --216.110.xxx.xxx |

What is happening where vacancy rates are going reach 7 per cent where rents will be drop. Provinces that have rent control where once 5 per cent vacancy plus there is no need for rent control as it will be market rent. Rental buildings with all inclusive are going to find difficult to operate at lower rents as those operating costs are significantly higher. So landlords need to focus on keeping operating costs lower where you have function in a housing market. Finally here there is not enough money in the provincial treasury to completely buyout all the rental buildings, condominiums and houses as 50 per cent of the budget goes for universal health care. --216.110.xxx.xxx |

Canada has maintained tighter control of its borders and population because of health care: they can't afford to give away something for nothing to illegal immigrants.
The US let it get way way way out of hand and it is coming home to roost now.
Britain too is in a real mess: population is steady BUT Brits are leaving, especially the well-to-do tax-paying Brits and being replaced with illegal immigrants on the dole. So the composition has substantially changed and their universal healthcare is at risk as soon no one left to pay for it. --72.82.xx.xx |

There are people leaving as some are going to the EU or other countries. Now there is more condominiums, houses and apartment buildings for sale or rent which is going bring rents along with cost of buying. Well off immigrants can buy house or business right away or open a new business. There is a shortage of doctors where now they making is easy for doctors from the Us to practice here. A doctor here decides what is required or a referral to specialist doctor along with prescriptions so they can get paid twice a month with no problems. Some may earn less but less hassle. No hassle with insurance companies. Prescription drugs cost a 1/3 to 1/2 of the Us along insulin costs 1/8 to 1/10 of the Us. Seniors get rebates which even brings the costs down further. Federal government buys prescriptions in bulk where savings are past on to consumers. --216.110.xxx.xxx |
