You guys who do not do the live showings are missing all the fun. Yesterday's applicant showed up with a gigantic picture of a pit-bull tattooed on the side of his neck. So I got to see that and you might not ever.
He arrived with a teenage son. A very nice kid, very polite, who hadn't seen any bathwater for at least a week.
Fortunately, he decided that he would not be able to get along with the HOA and he didn't put in an application so I don't have to spend any more time on him.

Map, Simplisafe is cheap and only $22 a month with no wifi needed. Cheaper if you have that already.
Two motion sensors, one toward the front and one toward the back.
When they call you tell them that you are not there and nobody is authorized to be there so it must be a burglary. They will call the police and you have a chance to pop them before they can start settling in. --107.147.xx.xx |

Zero, I had Simplisafe back in the day with the "cone" type monitor for our first rehab. Now it's all subscription based but I have a Eufy system now.
The police (county and state only; village was dissolved) couldn't care less and because break ins and squatting are winked at by Gov. Hochul and Albany, there is no chance of them getting caught much less deterred. I'd rather not have open casings...err I mean open houses. --64.246.xxx.xx |

I am in a nice state, so far, and we seem to have more rights than some of the other states I hear about. When someone stole my trailer and commercial mower it took the police a while to get there. But it was not a high stress scene since it was gone and nobody saw anything anyhow.
But if they get called to an active break in or some such they really do come running. After the theft I had an alarm system installed. I put a door monitor on my other trailer. It went off and they called me. I said nobody was supposed to be there so they called the police. I was living about 12 minutes away at the time. There were four deputies here when I got here, and I was hauling some tail to get here. Turns out it was the device I put in the trailer. It jostled just enough to break contact. I hope that I never need them for a high stress situation, but if I knew they wouldn't show up anyhow I would really reconsider my profession.
Any place that I have open I visit often, just to be sure all is in order. If someone were to break in and try to establish residency I believe our police and court system would handle it post haste.
For me making money isn't as important as safety and sanity. It would literally drive me bonkers to have to deal with the stuff you do. --107.147.xx.xx |
