We are replacing windows with Harvey windows at one house. But we won't use a Harvey window in the small 9X12 utility shed. It is very basic with no climate control and has just one small double-hung window.

Any recommendation on the cheapest double hung so it won't need painting, but also so the frame will also hold up in the sun. Are there significant quality differences in white vinyl double-hug windows, or will the cheapest be OK? (I'm thinking cheap, but with an integrated screen to air out in good weather during turnovers.)

Vinyl windows of all sizes, styles and conditions on Fb marketplace or craigslist. A dime a dozen on there. If you were closer, i have about 50 you could look through. --24.152.xxx.xx

NR is correct around here. But if cost is an issue why not order just a single hung window? --67.140.xx.xx

I prefer a louvre style window for shed/workshop. They can be left open a little even during rainy days. --67.9.xxx.xxx

I'd be hunting for a used or new but unused window. Big box stores have clearance. For a really cheap but functional window try a mobile home supply house. --172.59.xxx.xxx

Thanks for the input. Cost is not an issue, but there's no need for a Harvey window when there's no heat or A/C in the shed. There's enough room for a lawn mower and a couple of bikes, and not much else. The shed is Hardie Plank like the house, but it's still a very primitive shed with a wood window frame. So we might as well replace, to eliminate more future painting, while we're also replacing the house windows.

Since it sounds like the grade of vinyl for the window doesn't really matter, we can just go with the cheapest without taking the time to search for a deal. Or maybe the local Habitat ReStore close to our rentals will have one that's clean and in good condition. We usually pop in to look around during turnovers. So thanks for mentioning facebook, etc. It reminded me about checking ReStore. --71.246.xxx.xx
