So I have more than one business ,..one day at one of them,. I was in the near background and I overheard one young lady talking to the other who works part time at mine and I'm pretty sure they didn't notice me.

The part time female was telling the other how she felt she was treated harshly by her other boss for not producing and her poor attendance. and was being threaten to be fired

So my full time young female was giving her advice to threaten to report him for sexual abuse (this was contrived..however he commented on what she was wearing on 2 occasions,.that she looked really nice, this was a year or so earlier,..)

That it might be considered too familial,..and might be a tool to hold this over his head,..and,.. she could make up things like,. she noticed him leering at her etc.etc

(I found a way to be rid of both of them over a few a few months like cutting their hours so much that they would go elsewear,.

The point is,it seems the world is changing ,..scruples have changed,...you are "THE MAN" (whatever your sex is),..and its OK to screw "the man".

I have had a good worker who does not want to go to a unit without bringing his wife, as he says he doesn't trust the young lady living there,..I understand that,..she has been an incredible liar to present to the judge to not be evicted,..and this tool as worked for a long time and she is still there despite 2 lawyers referred by our local LL's association as the best in the area for evictions,..

SO,..wondering if you would consider wearing a police camera ,..or provide one to a worker like the one I just mentioned,.. I see a gadget company that I have gotten other things from and have been satisfied with,..that has a small hi def1080 police personal camera for just 35.00 on sale right now,..it protect yourself,..acually a few years ago I had a similar situation where a tenant said she was told that I too was too familiar with her to her next door neighbor and if I tried to evict her she would use that against me,..totally false as I'm very careful about this and is the reason why this interests me for getting one,..so I told that neighbor of hers that I wasn't worried,.. as I always wear a semi concealed camera (this was a bluff,.. but I'm certain she told her I wore one, and I heard no more about that action from her,)

So do you think its a good tool to have to stop any false claims by a tenant?

Certainly seems a cheap gizmo and if the tenant even knows they might have been recorded,..they wouldn't try to pull anything,,.now,..about recording,.. I don't know what the legal implication's are/would be in your state,..I doubt the police are not asking if they have to get permission to record,...but maybe they don't need to,...perhaps there is some wording that one can put in the rental contract,..kind Of somewhat hidden in your rental contract that can allow it,.( Anyone ever read all those of pages of fine print in some of the things on the Internet?)

I have had a couple of times when it felt like things were going in that direction but nothing came of it. I just became much more careful over time.

I like the idea of the cam for employees(the boss requires it)) but would probably only wear one myself if it looked like things were heading the wrong way. For the most part my relationship with tenants is really good and that could be an impediment. --162.204.xxx.xxx

First off you need to understand the law. Massachusetts is a 2 party state, meaning everyone recorded must consent to being recorded. Texas is a one party state, I don't need consent to record someone else. You could post a notice in your business that entry means consent to recording, you could include it in employment paperwork, you could also probably include a consent statement in your lease. Beyond that, you might be at risk if you record others without consent and someone found out about it.

I use a pocket pen that records audio and video, I've had it a couple of years now. It is much more stealth than a police camera. To the average person it looks like any other pen in my pocket I think I spent a little over $100 for it. I don't wear it everywhere but if I'm going to a situation that I'm the least bit uncomfortable with I will wear it. Examples include, delivering a cure or quit notice, doing a periodic inspection at a house where teenagers are alone or a loner from the opposite sex, or anywhere else that the discussion could turn detrimental. The only down side is downloading and storing the video should you need it later is a little monotonous and time consuming on the one I have. --209.205.xxx.xx

Yes, one needs to be "over" protective of themself. I have friends who are blessed and having extra funds, so they run a food bank for the homeless. They jobs/career picked up so they can no longer be hands on 24/7. They asked for help.

I contacted the owner/friend of a grocery chain and asked for their "almost" expired foods. Once a week I get a phone call and rush over with my portable ice/refrigerator boxes and pick up food and deliver them ASAP.

So the alley way and back entrances were blocked. Since this a non-for-profit company and get free rent, no one cars. So I parked my truck along the street nearby in a loading zone and with a large dolly brought the donations true the front door. When I came back, my truck had graffiti all over it.

One of the Homeless in line said that the owner of the truck cut the line. So retaliation was deemed necessary.

When I confronted the crowd, no one cared. SO I shut the center and sent everyone packing. Hungry and surprised. Everyone knew who did it and that My tuck came by often to deliver supplies.

When the security footage was given with a police report, the police filed my report thru their shredder.

Now, unless I have a reserved parking spot, I do nothing for no-one! --47.155.xx.xxx

I'm not sure if its legal to film someone without their consent, but I might have this small camera in a shirt pocket with the lens part just above the top of the pocket. The tenant probably wouldn't notice it or what it was for.esp with some pens or other things kept their.

"If' there was a claim that the tenant was making of something serious like a sexual claim, discrimination act,..I would take any penalty for doing that compared to protecting myself against that serious claim against me.

If you are in a 2 party state they would probably toss that as non-evidence.

I am not a lawyer and I didn't watch an episode of Matlock last night.

We are a one party state. I think Brad has said before that he has used his I-Phone to record while walking thru a place. My pockets are too deep to do that with my Samsung phone. At least one of the lenses would be blocked.

Correction, blocking one of the lenses didn't hurt the video as far as I can tell. Just with a pocket Tee shirt. No clue on a button-up as that isn't what I am wearing.

Interesting concept but that has got to start eating up a lot of storage space pretty fast. --107.147.xx.xx

Hollis,

I left 25 years as a Scoutmaster because the climate became too easy for someone to say an accusation.

Lawyers are hungry - too many of them and not enough legit work.

I suggest every business have security cameras running 24/7. Multi camera systems are inexpensive at Costco, Sams...A few hundred dollars can help protect the boss and YOU from lawsuits, and would have recorded that conversation.

When you call a business and hear "Calls are recorded for quality..." that's to cover the 2 party rule.

My police chief explained that everyone acts a little better now with body cams - including the officers!

I simply use my iphone set on super wide angle when dealing with a situation or inspector.

I guess my pockets aren't as "$$ deep" as zero's!

Are there no security cameras in the business? The employee should have already consented to being filmed. In the meantime get them to sign something that says they consent to being film for security reasons, --76.178.xxx.xxx

Brad,..yeah,..I wouldn't want to be a scout master these days

for that same reason. I wonder if one can claim that you are recording for other reasons and the tenant happened to be in that field,

Smoke,..yeah too,..old school too long of not thinking about employees turning on you,...but those people are probably the most dangerous. mostly they seem like friends,.in most cases, in a little while ,....you get to know about them and their families,..they are like family,.and you think your family member would never screw you ,.(but how untrue that is)

Thank you Zero , Mike and others for your great inputs,..

I wear a GO-PRO on a chest mount. Not always, but if I am the least bit concerned about anything, I do. I have it started prior to knocking on the door.. and I point out that I am wearing it and everything is being recorded being one of the first things said during the interaction.

If they ask why--it's so I don't forget anything that I have to fix/do or promised to do.....usually they don't ask --76.138.xxx.xxx
