Pardon the rambling post as we have been busy packing. This will answer the questions folks posted a few days ago. The wife and I are downsizing from several acres of land and two outbuildings and a 3/2 house in Delaware County to a 2/1 with a 7K foot lot in Vevay with the back yard looking out on the Ohio River. I turned 65 in March and the way I wanted the property to look takes too much time and effort.
My 47 years in health care covers time in the Navy, my employer after that from 1987-2009, The Muncie Eye Center, which closed due to fraud by the owner and C.E.O. The money I invested during this time enabled me to buy my country home and rent out my old home in 1998. Several properties later here I am with enough income to live comfortably, not lavishly.
The retina doc asked me to join him on the strength of my clinical and angiographer skills. We both took and continued to take an income hit, I never made as much in the eyeball world from 2009-2025 as I did in 2008, the last full year of employment at the Eye Center.
I refused to brood over misfortune and vowed never to give up and decided being a landord was the way to go for gradual financial independence. I would succeed and prosper and 16 years later here I am babbling on a site where I learned much.
I don't know what I'll do yet in Vevay, but I'll find something. My son will be the property manager in Muncie and I have a good contractor and accountant. Will definitely look at the Vevay rental market in a month or so and maybe due a 1031?

You have earned it.
I know Vevay. It will be you, the Ohio River, and a bunch if deer! I hear they allow 8 deer in the season.
I remember when you visited here and we went to see my latest foreclosure house. I still have that baby grand piano in storage! Maybe you could use it in you Vevay digs:). Please...TAKE IT! I will deliver!
