For those who have rooming houses and provide beds: Do you find it makes a difference as to what size bed you provide, as to what sorts of tenants you get? If you only provide single/twin size beds, do you get less boyfriend/girlfriend drama? Or just fewer tall people?
Do people ask if they can bring in a bigger bed? Or, after they have been vetted, say they will not live there with that size bed? TIA! --23.233.xx.xxx |

Twin XL has worked well for me overall. Queens are also good if the space allows for them. However, large queen rooms haven't attracted people like I expected them to. Couples haven't been interested because the female half generally won't consider it. And when I get two guys who want the large space to split expenses, one of them will usually opt for an air mattress on the floor rather than sharing a bed non-romantically. They were Cubanos, so I don't know if it's a guy thing or a cultural thing, but it happened with two groups of two.
I have one small room that I tried saving space with a convertible chair-bed. People like the price but not enough to sacrifice the comfort. I'll end up swapping it out for a regular twin bed, even if it's not efficient. --172.59.xxx.xxx |

I have a nice Twin XL trundle bed in one of my guest spaces. Pulls up and out to make a King or two twins. Converts back to a day-bed couch. Looks nice. Sturdy.
Not this exact one, but this is nice:

I manage three rooming houses for someone else. She provides twin beds only, as she doesn't allow double occupancy and it cuts down on the appeal for overnight guests. Plus only a few of her rooms are large enough for a queen anyway.
I have several rooms that are large enough for a queen. However, after someone moved out without notice and took my very expensive (albeit secondhand) queen mattress with them, I stopped doing that. I provide twin beds. If they want something large, they can provide it themselves. That hasn't been an issue. --104.251.xxx.xx |
