I got a text last night from a debt collect. It says they are trying to collect from $865 from me. They don't identify who they are trying to collect from, but I am confident that it is either a scam or they are tracking down someone else. I have a credit score between 795-810.
So, I am thinking about using a Brad on them. I might ID myself as Sam and see if they try to collect from Sam. Any others get text like this with a link in them?

Ignore anything like this. The more you interact, the more they will pester you / sell your info to other scammers.
Same goes for all those stupid posts on FB that are designed to piss people off. They'll make some asinine statement (usually political) and collect the info from accounts that like, frown, comment, etc. It's called "Like farming". In your case, it's response farming. Once they know your phone # is "good", it goes on the list to be sold to scammer.
Follow the best legal advice ever given and stay silent / do nothing.

Never heard it called smishing... I like it.
I get some texts saying that they have houses for sale on my area. They have my number, first name and general location.
Pretty sure that auction dot com sold them my info as it started when I bought the last house on their site. --107.147.xx.xx |
