The state of Washington has passed a law that their state employees or law enforcement can not give any help to ICE and that ICE can not take prisoners out of their jails. They want to keep their murderers and rapists and violent felons for themselves, I guess.
So the sheriff in Spokane, loads his undocumented prisoners into his sheriff's transport van, and he drives them over the state line and hands them over to the Kootenai County sheriff in Idaho.
ICE comes and picks them up there and the sheriff in Washington has not violated Washington state law and he has rid his county of some pretty bad criminals.
Sometimes bad laws have a useable work-around. --76.178.xxx.xxx |

Shows how smart these politicians are. ICE are Federal Law enforcement agents. If they show up to the jail and demand to take custody of someone they get it, Federal trumps State every time. If they don't they will prosecute the person inhibiting them with a federal charge. The Sheriff is smart, he knows how to deal with these nimrods. --209.205.xxx.xx |

I guess if they are so adamant about keeping them…
My thought is “Follow the money”. I assume they get $XX dollars per day for each prisoner.
My opinion: the media is back to their old tricks creating fear.

Columbia said no and then back peddled when they were threatened with sanctions.
Last I heard they said they would fly their own planes to pick up the detainees to make it easier on the U.S.

A couple of years ago, Washington passed another stupid anti-gun law and the local Spokane TV station asked their sheriff about it and he said "we won't be enforcing that here"
Seriously, I don't know how he keeps getting elected. Spokane is very woke and progressive. They coddle their homeless, embrace demonstrators, and don't prosecute the criminals, but I guess when it gets right down to their own street and their own neighborhood, they secretly vote for the guy who will enforce that law. That's my kind of Sheriff.
Reminds me of a report years ago of a Sheriff in TX who housed prisoners in tents, fed them bologna sandwiches & had them work in chain gangs. He was required to provide them with Cable TV, so he did - but blocked all channels except the weather channel, so they could see how hot it was going to be when they went out to work.LOL! --72.218.xx.xxx |
