TENANT a Landlord Cry's $ (by Robert J [CA]) Posted on: Dec 3, 2024 4:30 AM Message:
I have a residential tenant who is renting a luxury apartment, who's also a commercial Landlord of Storage Space -- as his primary income. He offered me inexpensive Storage space so that I'd go easy on his apartment rent. I gave me an extra parking spot at no cost..
Now it's 4-1/2 months into my storage lease and I got a notice of increased rent. This was done by his software or location manager. Rent height, a 34% increase, after the first six months. Making my storage rent 16% over market.
So I did the next best thing. I sent him a letter that his "free" parking spot is now going to be increased to $100 per month. This will more than cover my extra Storage rent.
I received an email from him over his extra parking space. Foul language and a treat of legal action. I then sent him a copy of my increased storage rent. He said, "What do I expect"? After six months he raises everyone over market to maximize his bottom line.
So what good for the goose is NOT good for the gander. --45.76.xx.xx |

Now I get why you seem to fight with the city all the time. You don't handle things well.
Either this is another made up story -- or you are a fool for immediately sending a letter saying you're increasing his rent on the parking spot after his SOFTWARE OR LOCATION MANAGER auto-increased yours.
You should have already had an agreement in writing to prevent this. And when you didn't have that, you should have calmly talked to him about it. Instead, you shot yourself in the foot.
Just like you do with every authority figure you've ever encountered based on the stories that you tell here.

NE and John are right.
After all these years, you really should know better.
You seem to have a very short fuse and react quickly and harshly without thinking things through to the end consequences first.
I don't expect or ask you to change. I know you won't at this point. It's familiar to you (drama) and just your way of life. You seem to have done pretty well for yourself, financially, in spite of it.
Just my observation
Have a nice day : ). --72.218.xx.xxx |

I don't think this is the same person that used to post on here by that name. Seems way different to me. The stories are getting wilder anyway.

Dang a landlord got scammed by another landlord.
Who would have ever thought that a landlord would ever raise rents? How long have you been doing this gig? 40 years? You did ever ask yourself what could go wrong with this deal?
Well I am sorry that you feel that you are getting a raw deal. After your 4th decade, I would hope you can see things happening before they occur. --24.101.xxx.xxx |
