I was advised by members of this Mr. Landlord Forum to use it's tenant screening but start the process of filling out the info before you need to do a tenant screening.

well, I got to the page where they ask for my SS#. I'm not comfortable with that at all.

So the landlords who use this forum, did you have problems giving your SS#???

The Credit Service Company, that Mr. Landlord contracts with is extremely trustworthy, repeatable and been in business for decades. I have used them thru Mr. Landlord for years. Got to know Mr. Landlord thru them. Done credit reports and background check since 1990, almost 35 years.

Since tenants trust us landlords with their full personal information, the three credit services want to insure we do not abuse our access to tenants profiles. We give our business and personal information, plus our Social Security number, so they can check us out. I have to do this every year to access ALL INFORMATION on applicant screenings.

Have not done it yet but from what I hear if you want the complete package they need to send someone to your house or office to verify you are legit and that you have everything secured.

My plans are to do this after the first of the year. Better to be set up now before I need the service.

You will have access to some sensitive info. They need to be able to track you down if you abuse that info.

If you are not comfortable providing your SSN, how can you expect your tenants to do the same?
