Most people do seem to like drugs and alcohol. They also seem to like bankruptcies, evictions, and bad credit. On top of that, they also seem to like having kids and not taking on the responsibility of parenthood very well. Just an observation. --73.108.xxx.xxx

I used to say it was a hard pass, but anymore I don’t know. If it’s long enough in the past, probably worth a closer look. I had a history with drugs and alcohol myself and pulled away from it. I also am seeing many past addicts and drug abusers doing very well for themselves these days. Fresh drug arrest records, no way. --24.152.xxx.xx

I'd say it's more rampant now than before but the reality is it's handled way different now. When I was a kid the cops would confiscate your booze, take you home, and tell your dad. Way worse than any DWI would have been. I'd much rather have spent the night in the pokey. Probably the difference now is the parents, dad hands out the booze and weed now rather than be the family authoritarian that their kids need.

Add tattoos. Some friends of friends of friends, distant friends of those friends almost seem to be bragging about all the past history of such behaviors. --172.59.xxx.xx

My theory: in years past we did not know about their criminal history.

Now with easy access to online court we can see evictions and felonies.

HUD requires we review their court records. We eliminate violence and recent problems.

If it wasn't for Facebook, I wouldn't know who the "baby daddy" is, or BF/fiancée of the month. My husband took one look at the BF and said he is a "dope head". Yes, and mutual friends would indicate same.

My husband leaves the picking mostly to me, but I ask his input as he managed a manufacturing plant and has had

great experience hiring people.

Speaking of tattoos, one particularly desperate woman is a state worker at an ABC store and has a skull on her whole neck under her chin. Pretty scary looking. And another prospect has memes on her page with the middle finger sticking up and Joan Crawford yelling "Don't F with me fellas!". Oh my soul, what are we becoming as a nation/world? They had other things besides that to disqualify but..... --47.133.xxx.xxx

Not everyone but when I rented to someone with drugs in the past long time ago with the mother co-signing, ended up with an overdose in the unit. Probably still a hard no for me. A few years ago had someone that was a smoker and ended up with a dwi while living at a multi. Was afraid he would burn the building down or we were going to have a slip and fall as security showed having a bar across the street was not good for that person. Due to bad experiences they would probably still be a hard no for me. --73.149.xx.xxx

With that history comes an opportunity for you to see how well they paid the judge. If they are not paying the judge, will they ever pay you? --24.101.xxx.xxx

The tweakers that lived in my newest acquisition both have narcotics cases pending.

They keep having the court appointed attorney continue the case. Originally filed at the end of January 2023.

My thought is that they do it so they do not have a decided drug case and he loses his factory job.

That and once they are found guilty they will be on probation and subject to drug tests which they can not pass. --107.147.xx.xx

Back when we first moved to the beach, we would actually tell Prospects "We are not worried about a DUI (because everyone had one) but we do care about violent offenses.")

I stopped saying that a long time ago - the population's changed and we have FEWER people with DUIs applying these days. --72.82.xx.xx
