Just sharing. There’s more stuff out in front on my grass with a FREE sign on it (I posted about this). Not much has been removed but they’ve added a mattress and an exercycle. I called to be sure they will leave their keys on the kitchen counter and also leave me information for where I can mail the security deposit reconciliation document. This text info was in the notice and procedures documents that they received last week. The tenant who answered my call told me they were going to stay one more day and clean. I told him no, their tenancy ends today, September 30, and they need to be out today. No coming back to clean, no coming back to do anything. He was not happy. As for me, “Sorry, not sorry.”

I had that from two separate departing tenants. Glad you were firm.

Just finishing cleaning what she didn't clean. She got charged plenty.

Next guy took a week to clean past the end of the lease. In doing so, he ruined the inside of the oven, even though he was given specific instructions. Don't know what he used, but there's no bringing it back. I didn't care that he took more time because he was military and he really cleaned well and I didn't have anyone to move in nor do I want to at this time.

I'm going to try to talk my husband into rehabbing it to stellar and selling. It's in a desirable neighborhood. If we move in for 2 years while we're making it stellar, and tax laws don't change, it could be capital gains tax free. --75.11.xx.xx

Say Yes and in my state I can charge them double. You may have been able to charge for the entire month of Nov ! Oh well. Happy dance tomorrow! --172.59.xxx.xx

It amazes me how tenants act like they didn't know in advance. Glad you got them out, especially where you are. --73.108.xxx.xxx

And now you have to clean and remove everything yourself. Is their deposit sufficient to cover everything or would them taking care of most (or even a portion) not worth it? Yes, I understand they "knew" and they "were" to take care of it but they didn't. Depending on specific circumstances, giving them until tomorrow at xx would be worth it for me. --98.237.xxx.xx

A day usually turns into more. You don't keep a car rental, lease equipment or hotel room for "one more day". Out is out or charged. --73.230.xxx.xx

The pile of free stuff will probably continue to grow. People driving by will swap something they want for something they don't.

Kind of like leaving a dumpster unattended. It will grow mattresses, garbage bags and old chairs quickly. --107.147.xx.xx

I had an odd family move in and then out after 1.5 years. The wife did zero for each move, the husband did ALL the work. When they were due out on New Year's Eve, he called at 9PM and offered me $200 cash if I gave him until 12PM on Jan 1st, and agreed to handle disposing of a few boxes of kids' outgrown toys and clothes. I only agreed because I had been there the same day, performing some minor chores and answering a few questions. I could see that he was close, but wouldn't make it while doing it alone. (Spouse and 3 kids, meanwhile, were down south visiting family at the beach until the move was completed - very odd, as I said.) He was out by 10AM on Jan 1st.

I had a blast giving the toys and clothes away to women with the mom's group at our church. It was all quality stuff. Had that happened during the warmer months, I might have held a garage sale, but I had my $200 and had to be there anyway for the turnover inspection and cleaning. --173.62.xxx.xxx
