For any of you LL's out there who drive a Dodge Ram truck, this should come as no surprise, as there is no quality control in a Chrystler product. There is yet another recall. You may want to check it out. It affects 100% of these trucks.
Ram Recalls 1.2 Million Trucks For Software Malfunction
The recall affects Ram 1500 trucks from 2019 and 2021 to 2024.

Here's the rankings. I wouldn't buy a Chrysler, Jeep, Audi, Landrover, volvo, Ford, or any other car on the bottom of the list. They are too expensive to buy a low quality car.
I had 2 GM cars. I would never buy another GM product.
I also would not buy a new car.
I'd stick with a Toyota. My last Highlander had 210,000 miles on it before my kid wrecked. My current Highlander has 233,000 miles on it and I paid $12,000 for it when it had 100,000 miles on it.
If you like cars I get it (yes you BRAD!) but I just want to turn the key and go. I don't need car drama. --65.188.xxx.xxx |

My 06 Tacoma hit 200K this past month. I drove a honda civic and sold it at 230K for $800. Whenever I get towed (it happens) I ask the tow truck driver what they tow the most. Last time the reply was Ford and Prius. I see so many Rams w rusted out wheel wells, I don't understand the affinity for them. Also don't understand the love for Subaru, people call in with problems when the auto show is on the radio. --67.240.xx.xx |

Have a 2019 Tacoma TRD pro with 3.5 litre V6 and 6 speed manual where change some parts on clutch master slave as this eliminated squeaking noise there is key and fob where can use key to open doors where the automatic version has key fob only which is easy to steal. When I go to shopping mall or other parking lot I always lock with door not fob. I change oil and cartridge filter every 5000 kilometres where do not use a litre between oil changes at now 100,000 kilometres. In future would consider a Nissan as new Tacoma has turbo charged engine which is not going to be a reliable was the 3.5 L V6. Toyota already some issues with turbo charged engines. Most domestic vehicles will last 200 to 300 thousand kilometres with normal engine changes. The Us buys a 15 million vehicles per year where if china was allowed there would be no big three. In the EU china is already effecting the EU automakers. I do not see many 2nd generation Tacoma on the road. --216.110.xxx.xxx |

At what point should we look at getting rid of that Japanese car?
I typically try to stagger the age of my vehicles. But I find myself with two 2018's each with between 112 and 130K miles on them. I was planning on starting to look for a replacement around the 200K. I have a Toyota car and a Nissan truck. Being up here in the snow belt, the vehicles take more than their fair of abuse from old man winter, but I do a good job maintaining them.
I typically pay cash for an off lease car that has 30-50K on them - although I do see the mileage trend going up post C19 with leasing companies. --24.101.xxx.xxx |

I swear older is better. My Dakota is an 04 and is getting to the end of its life. Good old Pennsylvania rust. When I replace it I want to find a mid 90’s or earlier Ford or anything really that some old guy babied for the last 30 years. --24.152.xxx.xx |

I have a 22 Ram. I especially like the fold out tail gates. Check it out. I had 6 GM trucks thru the decades. The Ram does ride better. All good with it. Software, they Just download the fix. No dealer visit. Good old media make thing a lot bigger than they really are these days! I treat myself to a NEW truck every 3 years. My reward for being in the landlord business. Especially with the few, thank goodness, PITAs, that I deal with. I do not care what it cost, besides, it is a business expense! Lets not forget to reward ourselves. Booking my time at Marathon Keys, Florida for Jan & Feb. Again, I am 80 and I will NOT take it with me! Been in the Landlord business for 50 years! --99.191.xxx.xx |

Frames on Toyota pick ups are really effected on areas that use heavy amount of salt on roads. So it is worth considering rust proof treatment. The newer ones are better. Painting with Tremclad rust paint will help along cleaning off with water at the self serve car wash after heavy salt on frame and under body. If you lived where salt was never used on roads then this would not be a problem. I guess that is why you do see many second generation on the roads here. --216.110.xxx.xxx |
