Gangs are taking over apartments in New York City, forcing our the lawful occupants either by tricking them into giving up the property, or in one case, starting a fire that destroys the entire building...

Comments: The three families that lost their homes to the fire, I would like to know what their opinion is on “asylum seekers, gang members, right-to-shelter”. And are they going to be given free housing, debit cards, childcare, food all paid for by the city and all they have to do is ask?

The crazy thing is, that there's actually people out there who think this isn't happening or flat-out deny it and saying it's not real.

New Yorkers literally voted for this. They will vote for this again next election, guaranteed. I have no pitty for them. It has become humorous.

Why I don't trust the media-

The media featured lotsa big name political leaders for weeks proclaiming he was strong "You should see him in a meeting!!" right up to the very moment they decided he was too frail.

I think NYC has it worst because of the concentration of illegals with no where else to turn.

This is like the 3rd or 4th time this same incident has been posted on this site. I've grown tired of pointing out how inaccurate it is.

Slumlords gonna slumlord, I guess.

Well, first we had this thread just a week ago about gangs taking over a complex in Denver:

...but then a little research showed that it was actually run by a slumlord who wasn't doing anything to fix actual health issues in the building -- and the tenants finally got together to file complaints and a potential combined lawsuit.

All of the "gang" crap was just PR for the bad landlord. The local Denver police flat out said that they could find no ties to actual gang activity.

Then someone started this thread a few days ago about the exact same situation:

..and then when JAC added the context about sewer backups, rats, and lacking trash pickup by the landlord, people complained that he was part of some left-wing agenda just for adding facts about the situation.

Now we have new reports about the same thing suddenly happening in NY and Chicago. But it all comes from one guy who is known for his right-wing propaganda that is being pushed by Elon Musk. And most attempts to get ANY confirmation on these situations from local police are finding nothing.

Local Chicago police have stated specifically that the claim of migrants taking over a Chicago complex are "bogus" and the neighbors to the same complex have also stated that they know of no such thing happening.

The Chicago situation started from someone calling 911 saying that "32 Venezuelans" (which is a bit oddly specific) were trespessing in a building and "showing guns in the courtyard" and packing the courtyard and stairwells. But Chicago's police have publicly confirmed that when they responded to the location, they found nothing at all matching the report.

That's because every thread to do with "left wing talking points" here tend to be filled with misinformation.

So, yeah, you see a lot of me going "let me add some context to this" when people are like "KAMALA IS GOING TO KILL US ALL AND TAKE OUR GUNS!1!"

And, yes, sorry, but those you know me here know that I do my research. I'm not just spouting off "alternative facts" that can't be trusted either. I'm looking things up, checking into them, and adding the truth. My "facts and news" simply ARE better and more reliable than the crap news that often gets posted here. Because I've checked into "both sides" of the issue.

I guess the fact that the Bi den administration issued sanctions in July against this gang is also fake news.

Or that the US Treasury Department issued a statement that "Tren de Aragua poses a deadly criminal threat across the region” adding that it often preys on vulnerable populations such as migrant women and girls for sex trafficking and extortion. Also fake news?

Then there is a host of non public, internal notices which are available to law enforcement from many agencies (DEA/FBI) that support the published information and lead to the sanctions being issued. I guess those don't exist either.

Or perhap all your research is coming from the same biased sources.

And all of the evidence for the contrary is local police, the local Ombudsmen, and the neighbors in the complex next door -- who all say it didn't happen?

Again, I'm not arguing that gangs like Tren de Aragu aren't real, of course! So of course there are sanctions against them. But it is a huge stretch to try to say that this same gang took over some complex in Chicago (and then vanished in less than an hour).

You're talking about something completely different than the situation at hand here.

It wouldn't look good for the Dems to be "tough on immigration", so the Rs voted it down and then continue to argue that the Dems don't do anything about it AFTER they voted against it themselves...)

Colorado law firm report claims Venezuelan gang has "stranglehold" on apartments, takeover began in 2023

A Denver law firm, hired to look into an alleged gang takeover of an Aurora apartment building, says they found the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang began taking over the Whispering Pines Apartments in late 2023. Since then, the gang has engaged in violent assaults, threats of murder, extortion, strongarm tactics, and child prostitution as they have exerted a "stranglehold" on the Aurora apartment complex. That's according to a letter sent to Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman, Aurora City Manager Jason Batchelor, and the interim police chief that was obtained by CBS News Colorado.

The property manager told the law firm that he started his job in January 2024, but that TdA had already been establishing a presence at the apartments before his employment. In November 2023, the report states a consultant for the property management company was "so severely beaten and stomped by gang members that he had to go to the hospital." The report says the beating was unprovoked.

"The gang activity at Whispering Pines escalated in 2024," according to the document obtained by CBS News Colorado. In April 2024, a housekeeper called the property manager "informing him that two individuals at the property went into an apartment, came out with large firearms, and were coming to kill him (the property manager)." The individuals were apparently past due on rent.

The property manager said, "that the two individuals were arrested as they were coming to kill him." The report says the men, who were armed with "large firearms," were gang members.

This is telling me, nearly any apartment complex within the United States could be taken over by one of these gangs.

Do a quick Google search on "border security bill blocked" and you can pick whatever "biased" or "unbiased" news sources you'd like and you'll see that Republicans blocked the recent border security bill (at the direct urging of Donald Trump).
