State Specific Question About: MICHIGAN (MI)
Our U-Haul truck was stuck on our lawn when we were moving due to the rain, does that supposed to come out of our security deposit --98.209.xxx.xx |

If you parked on the lawn, and damaged it, yes it comes out of your damage deposit if you did not return it to its original condition. --173.28.xx.xxx |

You did the damage. You pay to fix it. --107.141.xx.xxx |

If that same U-Haul damaged your car, should the driver fix that dent in your car? --24.101.xxx.xxx |

Do you want the home owner to be responsible for your actions? Where are you moving to? Back to your mama’s basement? Be an adult and take responsibility for your actions. --66.169.xxx.xxx |

No.
Not if the local weather channel didn't mention rain that day
And if ya broke the curb or sidewalk, ya get extra points. --69.130.xxx.xxx |

The problem with taking the moving truck and driving it into the yard is crushing the water or sewer pipes. Let me tell you that is a very expensive day . . . for the RENTER!
So yes if you rutted up the yard with your moving truck you either need to fix it, pay to fix it, or (if it was me) I'd call my yard man, he'd fix it and I'd take it out of your deposit. --65.188.xxx.xxx |

Of course if you were moving in (and not out) I'd still want you to fix it, or I'd fix it and add the cost to your next rent cycle. --65.188.xxx.xxx |

If you were moving in you should be paying for those damages not using your deposit. Using the deposit would reduce the balance below the security deposit amount you agreed to the landlord holding.
If you were moving out the landlord will likely take it out of your deposit unless the deposit doesn't cover all of the damage then you will be billed and if you don't pay it the landlord will get a judgement in small claims court and garnish wages until it, legal fees, and court costs are paid in full. --209.205.xxx.xx |

Somewhere in my lease it states that you are not allowed to park or drive in the yard.
If your lease stated that then you know the answer.
I think you already knew the answer anyhow. --107.147.xx.xx |
