Here is my proposal: If they have landlord registries and licensing, I propose tenant registries and licensing fees. Tenant pays $300 a year to the government to have their unit inspected by a government employee at the Department of Effective, Advantageous, Dependable, Bonded, Equitable, Accountable Tenancy (DEADBEAT) for housekeeping issues:
Monthly inspections will include but not limited to:
trash bins emptied and cleaned out regularly
no dirty dishes in the sink
no boxes, clutter in front of exits
no pet waste, discarded fast food wrappers/containers or cigarette butts/vaping cartridges anywhere on the property
all clothing put away neatly in drawers and in closets hanging at right angles
no wet clothing left in washers
no dry clothing left in dryers
lint filter in dryer cleaned regularly
tenant needs to buy their own window or portable air conditioner unit and keep premises at 50% humidity or less at all times
tenant must keep their credit score above 600 at all times or fines will be levied *
tenant must keep their utility bills paid in full and on time or fines will be levied * *By the Department of Effective, Advantageous, Dependable, Bonded, Equitable, Accountable Tenancy --64.246.xxx.xx |

If it is government run, the landlord will be fined if the tenant doesn't pass inspection.

Keep the govt out of my houses.it is not the govts job how tenants keep a house or there credit, that is between a landlord and tenant. The govt just wants to drive a wedge between landlords and tenants so they can work both sides.I have told my manager to let my tenants know if a govt agency wants to gain access to my property against there wishes let me know and i will fight the city on constitutional grounds, they give up every time a tenant says no they cant come in but tenants might appreciate some reinforcement from the owner, then the owner and tenant are working together for the betterment of both of us --74.77.xx.xx |

LOL, mapleleaf18!
That's a pretty good simile to stupid stuff that's pushed on landlords.
How long did t take you to come up with that acronym? : ) LOL! --68.229.xxx.xxx |

Nice acronym. If my local govt ever tries landlord registries, I'll immmediately organize my local landlords to push PR campaign how the government wants to add more cost for tenants.
(Cause we all know, we'll pass the cost on).
Then, let the tenants fight city hall. --74.132.x.xx |

Great idea actually! But sadly will never pass...
Government needs to keep their cash cow producing (middle class, including landlords) so that that money pays to keep non-performers at bay/quiet with their miserly welfare payments and run down 24 hr daycares and the rich paying the minimum taxes...
When you look at the government through this lens you can predict virtually any decision they will make.
No decision by the government will benefit the middle class.
Inspections of tenants homes will not make tenant lose tenant mentality. And they can't have crowds of the poor being kicked to the street (dangerous to the government). So we landlords will always foot the bill for nonsense.

Not sure if many on this post "got it" that it was a parody of what the government puts landlords through.
These tenants LUUUURRRVE their laws and rules for LANDLORDS despite the fact that it backfires on them every time. They LUUUUURRRVE their big government agencies with fancy titles.
If the TENANTS had to play by these rules, oh the wailing and gnashing of teeth. --64.246.xxx.xx |

$300 dollars for a inspection is expensive for a tenant who has minimum wage job or on social assistance. Most jurisdictions vacant rental units are few and far between. Suppose most the single family houses are sold then older apartment buildings are torn down along apartments above stores are vacant or become commercial. --216.110.xxx.xxx |

Enjoyable post.
I understand what you are saying. I might want to use your use of the DEADBEAT abbreviation at the local meetings. It hits home. --24.101.xxx.xxx |
