As most of you probably already know, I am not very tech savvy. I'm working on it though.

I am a little, but not much, familiar now with the Microsoft Excell spread sheets and some with word documents. Just into the basics really.

There seems to be a lot more things on the Microsoft Office software (or is it hardware?) that I have never even looked at. Things like power point, publisher, clip organizer, ect.....

What are these other things used for?

Do they help you in your rental business?

Thank you for your time. --76.129.xxx.xx

Power Point is for doing slide shows and presentations. We don't use it in this business, but are considering putting one together for printing for a tenant handbook of sorts. Basic things like how to flip a breaker, how to turn the water off, what to do in certain emergencies, etc. Not sure yet but we've talked about it... --198.54.xxx.xxx

Create a power point on any place that you are about to list. Leave that on a counter top and let it do the talking.

When I go a sales call where I am looking to buy off a seller, power point is also effective in telling your story.

Ray can be a real estate investor with 35 years of experience or Ray can be the retired member of the military who settled back in Mayberry USA.

The most important slid is the one that outlines what someone gets if they list a property with a realtor if the property needs work.

95% offer

-6% commissions

-2% utilities

-1% insurance cost during marketing

- lost rent

- taxes for that four month period

- closing cost.

I let folks know that they they might only be getting about 80% of the asking price. But instead of waiting, I am here and can pay you that 80% in 10 days. --24.101.xxx.xxx

I use a an old version of Photoshop for image editing, and an old version of FrontPage for the occasional HTML editing. (Photoshop 6.0 was released in 2000; FrontPage's final release date was 2007, but I'm running the Office 2003 version.)

Be cautious if you buy an old edition of Photoshop (or any other vintage program that you like because it's not subscription-based), but you don't have a dedicated old computer to run it on. I had tried installing it on a new computer with a current OS, and it was just fine--- until I ran the first update. And then it magically stopped working. So now I have two towers feeding into a single monitor, one with a vintage OS and one with a current OS, and I can click a button to toggle between working on my old computer (which is set up the way that I like to run old programs) and working on my new computer (which is primarily for internet). --137.118.xx.xxx

While we were at the boot camp there was a computer issue. We called upon the resident IT guy in the group. He came in and said that power point was too old and he didn't know anything about it.

Ouch, that stung a bit.

Ha ha! --107.147.xx.xx
