Weird one here folks. Tenants moved out. Tenants were not smokers. However, the handles of things like the toilet flusher, the stove, the fridge and a little accordion style plastic pocket door. All have turned yellow. What would cause this? The house doesn’t smell funny. do you think it could’ve been from vapes? I did not know them to vape, but it doesn’t mean that they didn’t.

Some plastic yellows with time. ABS tubs were notorious for yellowing as are refrigerator handles. --149.76.xxx.x |

I had a light fixture in a kitchen do this. The neighbors and I put in same fixture. Her fixture is perfectly clear. After my renter moved out mine is all yellowed... Thinking cheap candles... I saw them burning. No smokers or vapor. Had to replace fixture cause couldn't purchase new cover --172.59.xxx.xxx |

I've seen candles do that if they burn lots of them, or incense, etc. --64.38.xxx.xxx |

I've seen the alcohol based sanitizer turn some plastics a funny color over continued exposure. --216.114.xxx.xxx |

Have you or the tenant used an ozone generator? --107.141.xx.xxx |

Former vapor here. Vaping shouldn't discolor, most are clear liquids anyway. I vaped for years and didn't notice anything like how smoke damages. But I've had cleaning agents do weird things to plastics, sunlight do weird things to plastics, and yes, those ozone generators, and the medical UVA lights like the ones we used for covid destroyed plastics, discolored fabrics and even made elastic brittle and break. UVA lights were the worst. --108.69.xxx.xxx |
