As interest rates were raised there is a recession here where when go to business where last year there were more people. Basically unskilled jobs were the unemployment rates went up. Now the annual inflation rate is 2.7 per cent where the policies the federal Liberals caused inflation like the carbon tax on gasoline, diesel, heating oil, aero kerosine and propane had made life more difficult for people to live. Oh you should take public transit where someone who lives in a city like I do public transit to the city does not run on weekends or later at night. Only 10 kilometres north then very limited means to getting to the GTA. Oh buy a EV where many do not have the funds to buy a EV. Oh install heat pump where in the house there is no saving to cover the cost as going to used EPA wood stove where wood is free. Next year there is going to be a election where the Progressive Conservative government is going to come with a majority which means at the federal level no opposition to pass legislation like it is in the province of Ontario where the leftist say the Progressive Conservatives are doing nothing for the environment where now from Toronto to Niagara Falls there is commuter train service along the service is expanding further east and west with more frequent service. If people have less money can be spent on energy upgrades.

Sorry to hear about all this.
One thing I will comment on is that people who say heating with wood is free do not heat with wood or they are not running numbers correctly.
My sister and her ilk always said the heat was free. Then they bought a wood boiler system, had to pay to have it installed and they were still slaves to heat.
Chainsaws, chains, log splitters, tractors and trailers, barns and such to cover the wood and then the real kicker.
Labor.
We heated with wood when I was a kid. I swore I would never do it again. I do not even have a wood burning fireplace because of that.
Sorry, I will get off the soap box now.
I do hope that your fellow citizens make better voting choices. --107.147.xx.xx |

When moved into house there was already a wood stove where bought a higher efficiency EPA rated wood stove then put double wall pipe down to stove. In the Us they do not have a carbon tax on natural gas, gasoline. Where I am insulating house with spray foam reduces het loss and heat gain improves will be using less wood and natural gas. I see the different from two years ago where some nights do not use high efficiency gas furnace. Next election the carbon tax is out. Unlike the Us gasoline, natural gas along with most consumer items costs a lot more here. So in order to go forward will be improving envelop of house. I do not have AC where since using a metal roof along with more insulation in attic it is hot in house for a few hours where at night it cools down open windows where use ceiling fan. Now spending about $45 to $55 for hydro electric and $35 for natural gas in summer then up to a hundred in winter time. I do not know if will reach close to net zero where will need to heat less during the winter time. I cut natural gas consumption in a apartment building by 60 per cent where sold building if keep going would reduce further. My outlook is over time have to money back then some. Every apartment building that I owned reduced natural gas consumption, electrical and water consumption. That increases selling price as operating costs are reduced. Stove, clothes dryer and demand water heater are all on natural gas in house. I never deal with government programs as they increase property taxes. They do fund spray foam insulation where I have to get rid the moldy fiberglass insulation where toxic waste where can not take to a Canadian dump. If put a bag in front of house it winds in Ann Arbor Michigan. --216.110.xxx.xxx |
