So the City and the Department of Water and Power have worked out another method to scam landlords and tenants for power usage. How does it work? Simple, during peek power usage, such as during a heat wave and tenants rely on air conditioning to keep themselves cool, rates charged jumps to an all time high. The same is for the landlords water and sewer charges.

But the utility meters on City owned property, City employee personal residence are reduced to an all time lower tier rate. Taking higher math classes in junior, senior and university have paid off. I learned that 1 + 1 = half charges to the City Criminals elected to office. For us, it's double than normal. --173.205.xxx.xxx

Robert J, how do you know that they are charging different rates for city employees?

If you have the proof, couldn't the power company be sued? --76.129.xxx.xx

Larry, if memory serves me well, you’re pretty die hard pro big government, but I have to ask: what part do you doubt? Electric companies have peak/off peak hours. The city workers personal residence discount I doubt, but not the rest. --174.249.xx.xx

Well, Jason, I doubt a lot what he says at times, but I don’t doubt this. Especially in the cities. They are governing bodies of the clowns, by the clowns and for the clowns. Would it really surprise you that much if all of it was true? I wouldn’t be. --174.249.xx.xx

Larry is delusional. We are ALL paying through the nose to prop up the "New Green Deal." Outrageously shooting ourselves in the foot to try and reinvent the wheel with not-ready-for-prime-time solar and wind, when clearly coal and oil, which are plentiful in on this continent, are being shoved aside even though modern R&D have greatly improved and "cleaned" the process.

Then again, Larry probably lives near Little Mogadishu where gaslighting (pardon the pun) reigns supreme. --64.246.xxx.xx

A few years back I have a vacancy. That unit was in a cluster of buildings with an updated modern "smart meter" with everything unplugged except for my hard wire smoke detectors, I expected my electrical power bill to max out at $20 per every two months. Instead my bill was around $100. I complained, but had to figure things out for myself. As a Ham radio operated, I noticed a pattern of usage. My single smart meter was a also receiving data from the entire block, then uploading everyone's usage via the cell network. My meter was keeping the power "score" for the Department. I brought my findings to the City but the blew me off. So I disconnect my power meter, only to find charges against me, for allowing the block to go without a cycle of power usage billings. I was right, proven an $80 charge for receiving and uploading records at my expense.

So I know where several high wigs live. And one guy and his family ran their A/C 24/7 and also ran their pool 8 hours a day. Their consumption charge was peanuts while someone who conserved was being bilked three to four that mount. --173.205.xxx.xxx

If city employees were getting special treatment by utility companies it would get out and this would be major headline news. --172.58.xx.xxx

I know and have talked with many city and utility employees.

Realizing that things are different in CA I still have to call BS on this entire discussion.

Yes they can charge more for peak hour usage. I have only seen this with electricity. Never gas, water or sewage.

The last gas utility worker that I dealt with on a regular basis and who's wife works with mine didn't even have gas to his property. He retired from there two years ago. Maybe the entire industry changed in that time frame, but I doubt it.

Also been decades since I talked with a guy that ran HAM but they do not piggyback off of cell towers. That would defeat the entire purpose.

A Troll's gotta troll I guess. --107.147.xx.xx

Well I can tell you Robert that at least half of what you said is true. Yes there is a thing called peak pricing by power providers.

As for employees getting perk pricing, I would need to see the data or reference to believe that load. Could I believe that perhaps the city buildings get power that might not be billed? Well that would be hard to do since it is metered. Maybe - just maybe for sewer service --24.101.xxx.xxx
