What is best way to transfer money electronically from one of my bank accounts to another of my bank accounts at a different bank with the purpose described below?

My main goal is to end up with some form of documentation on a bank document which was clearly made at the time of the transfer to describe the purpose of the transfer if I ever needed to support the purpose at a future time. It would not be sufficient for me to just write a note on a piece of paper.

For example, one possible option would be if a Zelle transfer allowed me to input notations into the computer at the time of arranging the Zelle transfer. Then if I could print out some supporting Zelle paperwork which contained my notations, that would be sufficient since the notations were clearly made at the time of the transfer.

Is the option to include notations of the purpose of a Zelle transfer available when doing a Zelle transfer? I have never done one.

The responses make it clear I am long overdue in starting to use online banking.

Most of my California Banks have a "Bill Pay" or "Transfer Funds" heading. Once accessed and set up, there is a "Memo" section that I do the following:

From/To: This banks account ending in 1234

Amount (limited daily amount by bank, from $2000 to $300,000) : $1,250.00

To which Bank: Citibank Account ending in 9876

When: Today

Memo: Transfer of security Deposit for Lassen Apartments N0. 23

I transfer funds

1.from one account to another account at the same bank

2. from one bank to another bank

Both allowed me to make a note as to why I transfered the money

Here is the catch

Later on I can go in and change the note to say something else.

Mike SWMO, I understand what you're saying but I don't anticipate any problem even if it could be changed since I would have no reason to do so. I will also print out the info on which I can have my computer add the date printed at the top of the page. The real purpose of the memo is to explain the purpose of the transfer. There would be reason for it to not be as stated in the memo.
