Had a tenant take me to court today...for the first time in 25 years!
Tenant tripped herself up with obvious lies. The judge caught on pretty quick. Ruled in my favor, but allowed them one more week.

Why did the tenant take you to court? If they got one more week, it sounds like eviction. --73.159.xxx.xx |

Absolutely frustrating.
Also a huge relief - but just the same --24.101.xxx.xxx |

What was she suing you for, and what was the big "give away" that caused the judge to rule in your favor?
What is meant by "give her one more week?" Is she being evicted as well? Does she have another week to try to come up with more lies to tell about you that might overturn the judge's ruling?
?!?!

Judge granted eviction, but tenant stated she has another house they are moving into in one week.
That's one of the points the judge picked up on...tenant claimed to be innocent of the charge but also had already found another place to live and put a deposit down.
Instead of granting immediate eviction, the judge allowed another week since they were moving then anyway. "eye roll"

Frustrating for sure.
Could have been worse tho, so keep a chipper mood.
In another week you can start the rehab process and collect pictures for your damages hearing. Let them do what they gotta do, just keep moving forward. --107.147.xx.xx |

It amazes me how the tenants seem to always get more time. As if they haven't had enough time and warnings. Are judges scarred of them or what? --76.129.xxx.xx |

It's something about fairness or the feeling of being treated fairly. Seven days will go by fast. --172.59.xxx.xxx |

But Plenty, they were treated very fairly, right? When they sign a lease they are given all the information needed for rent and rules and regulations. They have a copy for themselves and can review at any moment. If they fail in any area, they are given notice with time to correct. So it seems silly for a judge to feel they need to give more time. --76.129.xxx.xx |

6x6 agree but now ya in the court of law and they give everyone their "day" in court. Agree 3 days or 5 days it's more than enough time and more than they originally agreed to. But the Judge is the Judge and they are VOTED in... They want those votes! --172.59.xxx.xxx |
