It does not make sense to buy a EV pick up truck as new designs along with unproven. It is better a EV then buy a trailer where can use on and off. A Mid size pick up truck like a Nissan where can buy a trailer for additional loads as well. Then buy a EV for around town and short trips. I would be reluctant to buy a non diesel pick up with a turbo charged engine. --207.236.xxx.xxx |

Yes it is ugly, which is subjective.
It has more bells and whistles than I would need, although the bullet resistant panels are interesting.
Didn't make it thru to see the actual size of the bed, which is what makes a pick up a pick up. Looked a lot smaller to me than the junky 5.5' bed I currently have and hate.
I have heard a lot of good starting to come out of EV trucks. Longer ranges, higher towing capacities and such.
Happy that they are out there so they can be updated and made to fit more of the platform that people like me need them for.
Would like to drive one just for grins. Maybe I would be converted after? --107.147.xx.xx |

I Like the way it looks. I always loved the Ford Ranchero and the Chevy El Camino, and it is pretty much the same idea. Of course the Ranchero had screaming power and you won't be getting that anywhere from any car with all the new emissions control and highway gas mileage regulations. Muscle cars are a thing of the past.
I'm not opposed to the idea of electric but I don't think they are ready yet. And I'm not believing the claim that powering an automobile from the home electric system doesn't cost any more than running your microwave. Those things have to use a lot of electricity to move that mass for so much distance. --76.178.xxx.xxx |

Although I can pull what I want or need to, I have had to replace several parts that would not have failed on other brands of trucks with 3x the milage.
That said, I have seen and heard of too many problems with the Tesla. I believe Elon is trying for a great vehicle but is still in the trial period and having some recalls. For that reason, I wouldn't want one, just like I won't be buying another Chrysler product. Just to be clear, I meant no corrosion on the aluminum body as we know that aluminum doesn't rust but can corrode. The frame was showing surface rust but nothing major and the truck was not undercoated. So you could buy an aluminum body ford truck and undercoat it and probably be good for a very long time. Wash off the salt every day and you would be golden.
I wonder how the Tesla Cyber Truck will hold up in the Northern climates, as it is stainless steel?

Not sure why all the negativity. I guess people resist change.
It has a pickup size bed for hauling, tough shell that won't fade or rust, no transmission to replace after XXXX miles, cheaper per mile than gas, forward thinking engineering, and accelerates quicker than my Porsches.
I like shiny, pretty cars so I don't care for it's appearance, but I also thought the first iPhone was a boring design.

The truck I have now is a Silverado 1/2 ton. I got a good deal on it (for a lease) but I am not happy with it.
5-1/2 foot bed which I put a toolbox in and that kills another two foot of total space. I have a tailgate extender for when I get longer stuff like the countertop I bought yesterday and the carpet I will get in a couple weeks.
It has a 4 cylinder in it with a turbo. The numbers all look good, but in reality it pulls for crap. My 14 foot enclosed trailer with my mower in it drops the mileage down a whole lot. Maybe 15 mpg vs in the low 20s otherwise.
Always had gas V8s before, and I miss the extra umph even though I do not pull a lot. I should be bringing my mini excavator home in the next week or so. Almost as bad as the ones the urban cowboys buy to show off. I don't care if it's EV or ICE: $80,000-$100,000 for a vehicle... nope, nope, nope.
The rapid depreciation is another huge negative.
"As expected, when Dan took his Cybertruck to CarMax, it was the first ever Cybertruck offered to the company for sale. As a result, the company could not rely on past sales to appraise the truck and had to make the offer on presumably conventional used car metrics.
So, how much did CarMax offer for the Cybertruck? Drum roll, $76,000. That’s $26,000 below the purchase price for the vehicle, which costs around $102,000 brand new. The truck has also been wrapped in a superb green color, which increases the cost to close to $110,000.
In case you are wondering, the Cybertruck in question has 3000 miles on it and has been driven for about two months."

Bleh!
Plus having to change out tires more frequently due to the extra weight.
I suppose if you've got money to burn and want to be trendy, go for it. No thanks. I like lightweight and fun cars that still have that purr/soft growl at high RPM, such as my Porsche Boxster S! "All in" for under $20K and could sell it for that any day after 3 years or ownership.
