Zero, I saw on one of your posts that you use a PO Box for your business. The post office told me that if I get a PO Box then all of my mail will go to my PO Box and none will be delivered to my home address. I find this unacceptable as I do not want to go to the post office every day to pickup my mail. Do you still get mail at home?

That employee was full of crap.

I have a business PO box. Everything with that address on it goes there.

I have a home. Everything addressed to me at that address goes there.

In the same city. LOTS of people do that.

Maybe you talk to somebody with some common sense next time you go --68.229.xxx.xxx

I’ve seen a decline in the collective IQ of post office employees the last few years. You can have 10 P.O. Boxes if you want and stuff sent to each one. --24.152.xxx.xx

When I first moved to my town, we had delivery at our mailboxes by our front door. Six months before we moved to our current house, they mandated that door delivery would be grandfathered in, but from then on, only curbside mailboxes were allowed. They wanted to get away from mail carriers on foot, and only do mail carriers in vehicles.

So, we were six months too late to get porch delivery, and I didn't want mail to sit out at the street.

Previously, I had a PO Box for the biz. Now I also had a new, personal PO Box.

Things that are addressed to Biz PO Box go to Biz PO Box. Things that are addressed to Personal PO Box go to Personal PO Box. The hiccup comes from when people want to use UPS or FedEx. FedEx will deliver to PO Boxes, but not UPS. And sometimes, people claim they're going to send something via UPS (which only delivers to my house), but it actually gets sent USPS (which refuses to deliver to my house).

Since we're a small town, the post office staff usually are good at rerouting things that are addressed in one way, so that they show up at my PO Box. But sometimes there are people from out of town who assist, and they don't know.

Now, while I use my PO Box for paper things like bills, I use a hybrid for packages--- (Name) (Street Address) (Rear Door) (Box XYZ). That way, no matter who ends up handling the package, they have sufficient information to get it to me somehow. --137.118.xx.xxx

Well I am late to the party and everyone else seems to have answered the question.

Have had the PO Box for the biz for a couple decades. I get some personal stuff there as well. I did not live in the town where the box is so that wasn't an issue.

Funny thing about that town is there is a bridge going over a railroad track. Everything on the North side has to use a box which is free and the South side gets mailbox delivery or pays for the PO Box.

Oh and they close the office from noon until 1 so if you have a big item you have to plan around that. The also only let you in the lobby from 8 until 5 weekdays and until noon on Saturday. (ugg)

Have lost a couple packages because someone sent UPS instead of USPS. I think that is absurd as well. Even if I put the post office address and then my box number they won't do it.

As a matter of fact I moved farther away from that post office but I still use it because it's where all my stuff goes. I have rentals there so it isn't like I never go, just not as often as before when I drove by daily. --107.147.xx.xx

I use the street address of the post office and call my po box unit 123.

Since it doesn't say po box Amazon, fed ex and UPS will deliver there. Not always seamless but works. And yes mail mailed to home address goes to the home address. --172.59.xxx.xx

I have the same set up as Ken. You can't get advanced mail notice in the email for business or PO Box though which stinks. --64.246.xxx.xx

Mapleleaf, I used to get advanced mail notice on a po box i no longer have but my po box on the other side of town didnt offer it to anyone so maybe ask again, who knows your post office may offer it now --74.77.xx.xx

my post office offered this feature and I signed up for it but it never worked and it wasn't worth the effort to look into it. It's hard enough to get the carrier to not deliver mail to a vacant unit, why would I think this feature might be better? --67.240.xx.xx

Jennings,

I can see where this would happen, esp smaller towns.

Your business mail should be addressed to your business name, and personal mail to your personal name.
