Hi Jim, do you tell your tenants or potential tenants that if they get an ESA animal, their rent will increase 10% at renewal? I want to know how you're dealing with that and if it's considered discrimination. I'm always getting applicants with ESA animals. --172.56.xxx.xx |

How to fail in Landlording in two simple steps: Step 1, remove boot. Step 2, shoot self in foot. --24.152.xxx.xx |

Pat/CA, NE is right - you would totally shoot yourself in the foot if you TOLD a tenant you would raise their rent because of an ESA no matter when they got it. TOTALLY illegal and against Fair Housing.
You can raise their rent however much you want or allowed by law, but to tell a tenant WHY...WHY??? --173.28.xx.xxx |

I don’t come out in those exact words, but I do imply the annual rent increases is based on property damage. They can read into my definition of property damage whatever they want but most deduct they can’t control the damage a pet will do. --146.70.xxx.xx |
